Re: Aftermarket Cruise Control

Off-lately I have seen a lot of these cruise control kits on e-bay and amazon. Cruise control will be helpful during my regular Nashik & Mumbai runs. Has anybody tried these kits? Can someone explain me how this system works?

Thanks,

Asit Kulkarni

I was looking for cruise control for my swift zxi 2007.
Spoke to Automate,Pune and was told it will cost Rs.32000.
Anybody here used their products in recent times ?
Further, any guidance regarding other options will be very helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Aftermarket Cruise Control

I have a 2013 Honda City AT S. Will the cruise control work if I add the buttons from the V or do we need to make changes to the ECU for the cruise control to work?

Re: Aftermarket Cruise Control

I just installed the cruise control switches on our Honda Civic 2009. They seem to plug in and fit properly, but they do not seem to work. I'm not sure if there's a problem with the switches as they were not Honda OEMs as those cost a lot of money, or if there is a restriction on the ECU. I've seen videos of other 1.8 asian 8th gen Civics getting cruise control to work on theirs, but again I'm not sure if there's a difference in how the ECU is programmed for us as compared to the other places.

Hey, since I own an O7 Civic, I am still interested in this mod. A owner in a Pakistani forum has successfully retrofitted the same but the documentation is quite poor.
https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/t/d...-gen/171862/65

AFAIK, you need to change,
1. Clock spring
2. Clutch pedal switch
3. Brake pedal switch
4. Instrument cluster
5. Wiring

Just fitting the switch won't work, unfortunately. Kindly let me know from where did you get the cruise control switch. Thanks!

Hi, I have gone through that and it was pretty misorganised. However, I do not believe that we need to replace the tachometer and the clockspring unit. We just need to get hold of a 4 pin brake switch as seen on the F/L models and we need to wire it accordingly. I haven't dug into the wiring too much, just have a few circuit diagrams from a Redditor who has done the same to his Civic.

The link for the brake switch: https://boodmo.com/catalog/part-brak...witch-5996023/

The link for the steering switch: https://www.amazon.com/Steering-Crui...0450594&sr=8-6

You sure about not replacing the clock spring and tachometer?
Is your car an automatic?
Do the CRUISE icons light up when you turn ON the ignition?
Is the redditor an Indian? Any links please.

They light up when the headlights are turned ON, right? Shipping is not available to India. Any pointers on how to acquire would be helpful.

Refer the below,

Will surely provide a better picture.

Re: Aftermarket Cruise Control

From what I have read in that pakwheels.com post, there were no cruise control lights on his tachometer which i found odd. I did the guage sweep diagnostic(key in slot, press and hold select/reset button, turn lights on, turn key to II position, lights off, on and off again, press select reset button three times) on mine, and could see that the cruise control and cruise main lights were blinking. I'm not sure if the Redditor is an Indian or not, and our car is a manual. Also, the lights on the steering wheel switch do not turn on, which will need further diagnosis(will check the connections from the clockspring unit to the tachometer). I seriously do not think we will need to replace the tachometer and the clockspring unit.

Thanks for the website, I'll dig into that and try something out.

I have no idea how to get the cruise control switches through another route, I had someone carry it over from the US. You could try to visit a few scrapyards(I believe 2010+ Civic Vs had it from factory) or even aliexpress to get those switches.

That's promising to hear! Could you confirm whether your car is a pre-facelift or a post-facelift one? To be blunt, the pre-facelifts have round elements in the tail lamps while the post-facelifts have octagonal elements in the tail lamps.

Also, don't you think it is the perfect time for steering wheel mounted audio controls?

Our car is a pre facelift, I have sent a picture of the tail lamps below:Name: Screenshot 20211226 7.58.57 PM.png

I think I may get the audio controls fixed as well because we're already diving into so much here, might as well finish everything off

Although I do have to tell you that the facelifted ones came only with the cruise control switches and not the audio control ones.

Yeah, am well aware of the fact that we didn't get audio controls in the steering wheel during the whole tenure of the 8th gen Civic since Honda thought it to be a chauffeur driven car and added those controls for rear passengers.

Regarding the audio controls, the below would help.

Have few more questions to ask, will follow it later.

Well, I sincerely hope you will be the first to accomplish this project. Please make sure to document it in a separate thread with all the nooks and crannies involved. All the best. Will be keeping a close watch!

Thanks, I'll try my best. I think I shall use pins from a breadboard to fit in the connector going to the clockspring and use jumper cables for the rest of the connections.
