Re: Ford Fiesta (old) and Figo Rear Twist Beam & PS Hose - Service Program / Recall

Guys, are the rear suspension spring coils squeaking like anything after the RTB change? The squeaks become silent during rains (I believe water absorbs them) but after a few days when suspension dries up they are back!

Has someone got them rectified at the A.S.S ? What was the fix that worked? Suggestions and solutions would be highly appreciated.

Atleast I havent come across any squeaks in my Fiesta post monsoon and post RTB replacement. They have been silent for some time now (fear if this is the calm before the storm).

Have you shown it to the workshop yet?

No. Haven't shown it as yet. I wanted to have some suggestions before I go to them coz I dont want them to be playing around with my car's suspension.

Re: Ford Fiesta (old) and Figo Rear Twist Beam & PS Hose - Service Program / Recall

I got the RTB of my Figo (May 2010) replaced on Friday (Sep 28th) and drove from Bangalore to Chennai over the weekend.

Metro Ford Lingarajapuram took an hour to replace the RTB, and another 3 hours to get the car washed!
I don't feel too much of a difference in the sound, there was no squeaking from the rear to begin with.

Honestly I really do not understand this whole RTB issue. To begin with mine was not replaced, i was told it is just fine. However they found a leak in the steering rack and they replaced it. The next day to my horror I found that the steering was so rigid and tight I went back to them. They found that the "new" steering rack was faulty and replaced it again with a new one with a lot of apologies and explanations. After a few days I found that the steering wheel was was not centering as earlier and the car is getting dragged to the left if I align the steering wheel to the center. I have to keep pulling it to the right to keep the car going straight.

All this happened almost a month back and I have not found time to go back to Lathangi to get it corrected. Around this issue just wanted to know if the wheel alignment was not done in the first place? Let me know your thoughts...

If you have denied them already, why do you want to meet them. Have the workshop guys/Ford been pestering you to accept the reimbursement?

Anyways I guess this post does not belong to the thread. Mods - pls move to appropriate thread if available.

Finally got rid of the irritating noise. Zeroed it to the nut bolts that hold that RTB to the chassis. Oiling them did the trick and now the ride is super smooth again and I can enjoy the ride w/o blaring music.

Re: Ford Fiesta (old) and Figo Rear Twist Beam & PS Hose - Service Program / Recall

Have any of you got wheel alignment & balancing done at the time of RTB replacement?

My Car was rock steady till 140kmph, nowadays, post 120, a slight steering wheel wobble has set in. I think it is caused by the RTB replacement. I usually stick to ~90kmph cruise speed but still...

I think after RTB replacement Ford should provide the wheel alignment & balancing done FOC (for the re-placers).

There is no need of Wheel Alignment/balancing to be done after the RTB replacement as has been highlighted in the thread already. Check the post.

Figo has fixed rear suspension using the rear torsion beam so you don't need alignment or balancing after the RTB change.

Alignment at the rear is required only for independent or multi link rear suspension units.

But then why the steering wheel wobble right after the RTB replacement?

Get the rear wheels checked at a tyre shop. Imbalanced wheels can be one reason for wobble at speed.
