Re: Solved: VW Polo GT TSI power drop after service! It was the air filter

Update:

The Boodmo shipment has arrived. Its the original UFI filter made in Tunisia.
This long weekend of Independence day is testing time for the new filter.
Some pictures below.

Notice the little notch on the fibre material. The fibre material on this new UFI is softer(same as one that came with the car) and when you blow on it, you can feel the easy flow of air on the other side.

Normal packaging. Boodmo had another packaging over this box to avoid transit damage. Well packaged. Good delivery but a tad bit late (15 days)
But no worries of customs and blah

Even a monkey can discern the quality difference between this filter and the crap that TVS Lucas is peddling. I wonder how VW can claim that the performance between the two are identical!

Re: Solved: VW Polo GT TSI power drop after service! It was the air filter

I got my Vento TSI serviced in June, and feel like I have the same problem.

I would also like to source the UFI air filter and change it. Couple of noob questions :

* Since the polo TSI and the Venta TSI share the same engine, i am assuming the air filter code is the same as what is being discussed above. Is this a correct assumption?

* Once I get the filter, do I have to go to the service center to swap it? Would they do it given that the part is not sources from them?

Thanks in advance!

To my understanding both GT-TSI and Vento TSI have identical engines. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Swapping? Not sure, they might decline, but its a noob job to replace it. Removing about five screws, twist and putback the screws. Any friendly mechanic must be able to do it. It takes in T-20 torx screwdriver, so helps to keep the driver kit handy.

Re: Solved: VW Polo GT TSI power drop after service! It was the air filter

Btw, I tried checking the air filter in my car. As you mentioned, it just has 5 simple screws and I thought it should be pretty easy job. But the 5th screw is quite difficult to reach (one in red box below, between the ECU and the air filter housing). I kept dropping the screw bit from the screw driver, and thankfully the bit was dropping down on the ground and was not lost in the engine bay!

Finally gave up as it was getting dark. I'll try this again during the day. But any tips that makes life easy will be highly appreciated!

I had opened and closed it pretty easily when I wanted to inspect the filter on my car. I used a screwdriver that I had magnetized so that I could place it properly with ease.

Yes finally I did. Installed the UFI filter that arrived from boodmo. The car performance is back as ever. THE-TSi-GT. Same power, thrust and torquey feel which I had when I bought the car. The fuel used to test was normal shell petrol. Not V-power. Took it to NICE road in Bangalore and drove a long stretch to convince and conclude myself. No more antics of filter changing and comparison. I'm glad that the effort bore fruit.

Good news then. Unfortunately the UFI filter is not available now on Boodmo.

Thanks for the feedback. Though it has been a long wait, it seems to be have been a worth the while.

The URL for the UFI filter is

https://boodmo.com/catalog/part-air_filter-2309380/

The URL in your post refers to OEM filter not sure, if that is the UFI one.

So confused.

Thanks for sharing these details in team-bhp. I have also placed an order for the same. Did you install it yourself, or was it done in some garage, if "yes", can you please share garage details?

I have placed the order for the https://boodmo.com/catalog/part-air_filter-2309380/ couple of days back. Currently it does seem to be out of stock.

Re: Solved: VW Polo GT TSI power drop after service! It was the air filter

This is great news!

While I wait for boodmo to restock the UFI filter, I got this question - wouldn't the substandard air filter cause the mileage to drop? I am just using common sense to assume that since there is not enough air to mix with the fuel to burn, the engine will burn more fuel. This should impact the "kitna deti hai", isn't it?

I am not noticing any significant drop in my mileage, hence the question.
