Mcl, I thought you knew that Sam is an agent. A mole, to ferret out all the non-engine-vengine types.

Sam - sent you a PM and a mail too. Could you please share the details of the garage in Ballard Pier? My office is in Ballard Estate so it would be mighty helpful for me.

Not sure if Lancer is the new favourite in Kerala - me too saw a "For Regn" white lancer near my home. Took snaps mainly because the alloys were same as those on my Baleno.
Sam's 4 year old Lancer gets spoiled for it's Birthday!!-dsc02169.jpg

Did not check if it was a petrol or diesel Lancer, but given normal Mallu car-buying (esp. sedans) behaviour, I would be very surprised if it was a petrol.

And so it happened

It's a strange thing to wish for something and then wish fervently that it doesn't happen.

Why can't you use the Lancer?
I prefer the Verna.
Why?
I don't know. I like the Verna. You asked me, I want the Verna.
....

A woman's mind cannot be made up for her. I had to sell the Lancer.

And so I put it up here and asked for a price. No not the "current market value" or whatever they like to call it. A figure that would make me feel like I transferred my Lancer to someone who knew he was buying a car that had been loved.

I didn't follow up. Didn't answer those who I didn't like. Avoided the whole thing. It was so strange. To put your car up for sale and then avoid selling it.
I received many mails from BHPians (Thank you and sorry, you know who you are) - some even knew I was being unreasonable and appreciated the car, but couldn't afford it.

Then came someone who knew 2 things. How to appreciate a car and how to appreciate trust.
That's the mark of a gentleman, it is. He was the boss of a BHpian.

He saw the car, sat in it and knew. He came to my house and we shook hands. I requested to keep the car for a few more weeks, he smiled and agreed.

That was when I found about the NOC letter I needed from the bank.
I'd never taken a loan before, I didn't know about this NOC.

The bank cheated me. Robbed me. And there was nothing I could do. And that is truly another story.

And so the day came. I got her washed and cleaned. Filled her up. My driver thought I was nuts.

Gaadi toh bech rahein hai... petrol kyun bhar rahe ho?

He wouldn't get it.

And so the day came. This Gentleman paid, shook hands and left with my Lancer.

I hope he loves it.

I used to laugh at all of you funny sentimental petrolheads.

I won't again. Promise.

Sam Bhai - That was truly heartfelt. Sentimental petrolheads that we are, we do feel the pain, don't we? I hope you find a suitable replacement real soon.

A very strong emotion to overcome.

Letting go of a car can apparently be one of the hardest things to do.

I am touched.
