Here's some information from Torque App forums on "Throttle Position"
https://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Throttle_Position

Thanks Anurag.
So it is ok to have non-zero values for throttle position at idling.
I am also relieved to know that at full throttle, it need not show 100% in all cases.
Your reply cleared many of my doubts.

What does the owners manual say?

I couldn't find the idle rpm value in the owner's manual.
That's why I asked a MASS service advisor.
He told me it is 950 plus or minus 50.
I am not really sure whether it is correct.

Can other WagonR owners please confirm this?

Because mine shows between 700 and 750 only ( at idling without AC) and it is running perfectly fine with this idling rpm.
No issues now.No stalling, and no excessive vibrations. And no unusual loss of power in lower gears.
Everything seems to be ok now.

So is it ok to let it be that way itself, or should I take it to service center again and do something to bring it up to 950?

This is ok and I have observed the same in my earlier WagonR as well. The throttle position sensor voltages are calibrated to be used in a zone which ends a little earlier to the boundaries, hence you get a variation between 16% to 80s. However there is another PID in the OBD called as relative throttle position. This will give you a much more realistic figure of the throttle position with respect to the pedal input.

The idle RPM is not a fixed value and can vary upon various factors. Hence, as long as the engine isnt stalling, the ECU will have good command over the idling RPM. Try half clutching for a while and the idle rpm increases for a few seconds and after which it settles down. Erratic idling is a throttle body issue and sometimes a case of a clogged fuel injector. There is not much room to manually adjust screws apart from setting the accelerator pedal tension which can be visible near the air filter box.

I am in the market for an OBD for my Vento, Following the thread looks like ELM and Vgate are the popular ones. However I am looking for something that comes with GPS.

Seems like the ones that come with GPS, come with an web interface and more for business tracking their vehicles and speed checks.

Any recommendations on OBD which supports both Torque interface and GPS ?

Guys,
How about this device which is quite popular in US and is top rated in Amazon.

Anyone who has used this could you throw some light please.

Hi All! I got an ELM adapter from amazon for my Alto AMT. I have the torque pro app, however the app is the problem. When i enter settings, it keeps going to the main menu/page. Doesnt allow me to make any changes or so. Torque lite works fine and other apps also works fine. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Edit:

Here is the link for the ELM adapter that i purchased from amazon:

Here we meet again!

I am assuming that you are accessing the settings while being connected to the car via Bluetooth using an Android phone.

1. Do you see a warning somewhere saying that you are using a cloned device? If the answer is yes, you could either junk the obd reader or the paid app. Free versions usually have an option to override the warnings.

2. Uninstall the app and reinstall it from play store.

3. See if there are any OS updates available for your phone.

The third option worked for me.

PS: The cost of these devices have come down a bit. I had paid close to ₹900 when I purchased mine. It came with a mini CD containing software for Windows PCs.

1. No warnings about cloned device.
2. Did that already. Sorry forgot to put that in the post.
3. no available OS updates for my phone right now.

Also the issue occurs even when OBD is not connected/turned off. The app simply doesnt allow me to change anything in the settings.

Dear All,
I own Hyundai Grand i10 and if i put the ELM OBD device plugged in will it affect the battery life or not

Being not allowed to change settings when not connected to the car is alright. However, it should be possible for you to do it when the key is in the ON position and the obd reader is connected to the car's ECU(meaning that the app has recognised the ELM device). Try doing it once with the engine running.

Is the problem due to the fact that yours is an AMT? I am clueless there. Let's hope someone will shed some light here.

Has anyone been able to use an OBD tool with the Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 SFX?

OBD Gurus, I have a Maruti Swift Vxi and would like to buy this OBD. Is it compatible with my car? Is it worth it?

Which year is your car? If it is post 2012, it will work.

I suggest you to search eBay for this OBD-II reader.

Guys, need help in diagnosing the error codes on Maruti Ritz Petrol (1.2K series). Till yesterday, the car was working fine but this morning when I started the car, it was revving erratically. I reversed the car out of my parking space and as soon as I shifted from 1st to 2nd, I noticed engine check light turning on and RPM getting limited to 1-1.2k. Thankfully, I had an ELM 27 adapter lying around and upon connecting it shows the following error codes on Torque Pro App:

P0108- Powertrain: Manifold Absolute Pressure High Input
P2229- Powertrain: Barometric Pressure High
P0103- Powertrain: Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit High Input

A quick Google search reveals, it is relating to MAP/MAF sensor. But how to identify whether the sensor has gone Kaput or is it a loose connection related issue.

Check this thread for possible solution to check if MAF sensor is working or not
