How's 3M ?

Quote:
PatienceWins : I have got 250 ml of 3M engine oil additive.
@PW, how do you find 3M ?

At 570/- a quarter liter, This one's more expensive than the others (Bardahl, STP, Nulon). The one for engines that have run more than 50k is 620/- for that quarter liter.

I did not find any difference to the refinement (Getz has got a refined engine) or power after using it. I am wondering if these additives do any good to the engine.

I doubt so. The effect could be felt on on old engine. I could not find any useful information regarding the additive on internet.

Dear friends I tried NULON E 25 in my 86 Padmini Engine. I decided to go for it as I have a 98 S1 engine stand by.
After adding Nulon into the oil sump as recommended i drove the car 400 kms. The results are as follows:(Don't know what happens later on...)
1. Engine feels much more smoother it is as smooth as the S1 engine now.... Don't think that it is due to new OIL as the i have changed the old oil just after 1050 kms.
2. Engine noise and vibration went down to a great extent... now the cabin is much silent.
3. Engine runs cooler....shows temperature around 70deg C. (Thermostat is OK got it checked.)
4. Engine response is much more peppier than before.
5. Fuel consumption reduced.
These are what i experienced. I will update after crossing 1000 kms with nulon. Cheers...

Unless you have an old car (about or over 100,000km) do not use additives with the oil. Even then use Nulon etc as diagnostic tools rather than a fix. See what duPont have to say about Teflon and you will understand.

Is it available in engine oil shops (495 Rs for 350ml as per website)

Dear Samsag12, I've been driving the car with nulon additive for quite some time. It has been 3000kms, since my las post here. Few days back i checked the engine oil. it had that sticky-slippery feeling like new oil. Still i am going to change it as i always change oil after 3000kms.
Regarding my experience, I haven't faced any problem till now. Engine runs much smoother and cooler. After fitting sports muffler I drove the car at 130 km/h (odo has error) for a few minutes. temperature remained near 80deg cel. This is my experience. You draw your own conclusion.

@Samsag12: i will say that you have every indication that your engine needs to be 'fixed'. This is what Nulon is good for.

Sorry for the delayed update. My experience with the Nulon is as follows:
Nulon Engine treatment Rs. 520
Car. Premier Padmini S1
Experience: After its addition the car's engine air thorough rocker cover's cap (FYI S1 has a plastic cap with breather holes from where the engine oil is added) is felt cold even after 10 minutes of continuous running. The RPM has suddenly decreased with no tweaking at all. Regarding the leakages, still its too early to tell. Will surely update on this after 500kms. The vibration level has gone down too. Do make a note to continuously examine the area surrounding the engine for any leakages, spills et al. Mine had this problem of leaking additive from the manifold and oil was frying on the exhaust manifold's surface. Do keep an eye on that.
Suggestion: If one wants to achieve the full performance boost in a oil consuming engine then run the car atleast 500kms after adding the Nulon (not necessarily continuously). Then check for the leakages around the exhaust manifold packing. For better results change all the spark plugs and enjoy the smoother ride.
All the above stated facts and figures are as per my suggestion.

Dear all, i have been using nulon in my Padmini. During the durga puja holidays I drove the car 700 kms. Visited my parents and relatives with my Padmini. During the drive I noticed that the the mileage is nearly 16km/l. Smooth engine performance and the temp needle never touched 90deg cels. mark though I pushed her to the extreme. I am satisfied with the performance of my car. IMHO Nulon really makes a difference.
