No it doesn't. It's similar but not the same.

Any idea where I can find them for my car?

Does Skoda offer it as an accessory ?

U can get the same ones as per the link. These are the ones I got and though it is not very good quality, the mirror itself has excellent coverage. Not a direct fit but will fit with slight mods. Cheers

Also, all of a sudden VW gang lost interest in doing business with Mobil and now they claim that Mobil 1 is not VW approved...:uncontrol.
Finally, there are people who use Mobil 1 in their diesel cars while Mobil themselves claim that their right oil (fully synthetic variety) for the diesels is "Mobil Delvac 1", with real API CH rating and not "Mobil 1".

Cheers!

In mumbai after i got my second service done for my fl laura, they changed the oil to mobil 1, they claim its better then shell :) different skoda dealers recommend different oil?

Cheers..

1. Engine Oil: What oil do you use? Yours is a TDI? Skoda seem to be using non-synthetic engine oil for the TDIs and still charge heavily for the same. Shell does not have any fully synthetic engine oil for the diesels.

I've been using Shell Helix Ultra for my TDi, too. Its been just once that the oil was changed/topped (during the first servicing), and the dealer confirmed that this is the oil to use. Need to check with him on your claim.

2. OBD Scan: I have heard stories that they charge for this during service. The fact is - none of their routine work can proceed without this so there is no need for the customer to pay for this. If they ask you to pay, please take stand that if they (Skoda/dealer) are unable to do routine checks or debug a problem without the scan, then it should be included in the service.
Europa did not charge for the scan, the last time. So, even this time my stand shall remain the same. Thanks for the headsup.

3. Tyres: NCT 5's have been doing good on mine. On some sections of NH-4 , I experienced mind wobble at the steering when between 120 to 160) but not always. No wobble on N.I.C.E. road, Bangalore at all so I am not sure if it's the tyres/balancing/alignment or road surface issue. No noise so far (17000KM). But, you can try Yokohama sDB or some real performance tyres when opportunity comes. IMO, no need to change purely due to noise.
Ive been thinking of changing them around 35k, which should be a couple of months down the line. Michellin Primary LC and Yokohoma DB are the main choices. Are there any better one's available?

4. Wipers: If you need replacement, kindly check the prices and post here. Damn, we need a plan to deal with Skoda over long run!!!
Cheers!
Wipers do need to be replaced. The ASC charges around 1400 for a pair. Outside, I found them to be around 900 or so.

You can say that again! We need to plan a deal for sure :)

I am considering Yokohama DB and Conti CPC2. I recently put Michelin PLC on the E and though they are good tires in terms of grip, I found them to be soft for our beautiful roads. Mine has done close to 38k, need to change tires anytime now.

Akki, do update us as and when you do update the tyres.
Also, about the features you activated on your Laura, do you still have the VAG cable? Do you come to Pune often? I am toying with the idea of activating the features myself.

Sure mate. About the VAG, yes, eventually I bought the cable and still have it, and incidentally I am going to be in Pune tomorrow. Will PM u my number. Cheers

I had gone for a wedding and left the car for 15 days; came back to see that the battery had drained and the car did not start. Now my car is just about 3 years old, and Skoda service guy is telling me to change the battery as it's 3 years now and after every 3 years you should change the battery. Also, I am sure I did not leave any lights on when I left.

Just wanted to know if this is true or should I just give my battery for a recharge ?

^^ Get your battery checked from the battery dealer(not ASC).

My Fabia TDI Battery lasted just for 2 years 10 months - it was some imported brand, on testing the battery failed the load test thus replaced with a SF (DIN-74) which I think is common for all Skoda TDI cars.

Just get your battery checked, in most probabilities you will have to get it replaced.

Yes, recharge should bring it back - at least some of it.

Even otherwise, 3 years is quite OK. You know the stuff about the Laura right - any gadget left ON while switching off the car can sip the battery + the new Laura's have the feature that the radiator fan can switch on and run for upto 10 min even while engine is switched off - to enhance cooling of the engine and the turbo.

yup as everyone says 3 years is fine, don't worry about it..

Thanks guys, will get the battery checked by the battery dealer, though will mostly be replacing it. The only reason I was skeptical was because in my other cars I replaced the battery only after 4+ years.

Anyways, any good brand I should consider for a replacement?

Dude, that feature that turns the headlights on when you unlock the car (or was it the other way around - I cant remember), I'm sure that too helps to drain the battery faster than your other cars.

Hi all,

One of my friends recently bought a 2006 Skoda Laura L&K Diesel car. I wanted to know at what frequency the timing belt should be changed. The car has done 88000 KMS currently. Would also like to know if there any other parts to be changed at 90K?

Thanks.
