yes but only the basics, read error code and erase them, the ELM ones with software can do much more like designing you own dashboards, saving the run data for later analysis etc. For apprx $20 more (hardware cost).

The ELM one is a real good deal, I think I bought one for some $87, worth buying.

@svdath, I justt sent you a mail with ELM327 datasheet.

As I understand, K-line is a physical layer spec (one wire). KWP 2000 is a layer above it not sure about the specs though. K-line spec is similar to UART in simplex mode (can not quote a source, but remember having read it somewhere)

OBD on Scorpio

Hi guys, following the tips in the thread I tested out the ELM327 on my 2006 Scorpio. Here are the results from the communication (using PROSCAN):

ELM > 0100
4100983B0011
ELM327v1.5a > ATDPN
A3
ELM327v1.5a > ATSP 3
OK
ELM327v1.5a > ATMA
ERROR: No Response!
ELM327v1.5a >

And here is the full log:
02-05-2010 12:44:47.125 Opening Port 2 (9600 baud) with ELM Timeout = 500 ms.
02-05-2010 12:44:47.203 Comm Port 2 successfully opened.
02-05-2010 12:44:47.218 Tx: ATZ

02-05-2010 12:44:53.359 Rx: SEARCHING...7F0111[SEARCHING...7F0111] (0100)

So After ATMA, I have no response. Should I try changing the default timeout of 500 msec to a larger value?

Thanks a ton. I am sure you guys will help me get more info out of this non-standard protocol.

@Gharika, Sorry I overlooked your post till you PM'ed me. Your situation is pretty much the similar to non-compliant OBD. Can you do as suggested in post #36 and revert with the results.

One error code i can see is powertrain P 1650: I am not sure what this code means? Can someone throw some light on what can be the issue

Googled this code and found this may be a

PSP (Power Steering Pressure) switch out of self test range

Check the below link :-

One basic question.
Is this error code same for all car or its different from company to company ?

OBD is a standard, as long as the ECU is OBD compliant, the error codes will be standard too.

Re: Cracking the Da Vinci "TATA Safari 2.2l" ECU Code

How can we know about turbo charger from this/ these software(s)? I mean how to know the exhaust gas pressure and condition of turbo (kicked/ sleep) according to it?

I dont think its an issue, its just telling that the pressure is out of the defined range(could be TATA custom).

You can configure the probe for that sensor, depends on the ECU and software used, they should talk to each other.

Re: Cracking the Da Vinci "TATA Safari 2.2l" ECU Code

Tried Fun2drive and it worked ok.
Have posted screenshots here
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...app-bosch.html

Also tried Torque which didn't work sadly and hence tried OBD Car Doctor.
Link https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ardoctor&hl=en

Might get pro later since free version is working and after I learn to understand the parameters.

Some screenshots...

When you switch on AC...
