Every single petrol car made since the early 2000's feature fuel pumps with similar connectors dipped in highly flammable fuel in the base of the fuel tank.
Its all part of the design.

Petrol is more like a cooling agent, its corrosive but will not heat up

Re: Skoda Woes And The Ghost Of The Mechatronics!!

Hello V-16
I was about to buy a Laura Diesel DSG in 2012. But I chickened out after reading posts on DSG failures and bought a manual Diesel Laura. Absolutely no issues till now. Since it will be 5 years soon, I am looking for replacement. Since that will be my only car (meaning I can't afford to leave my car in Service shop for a mechatronics failure or whatever), I want a reliable automatic (looking at Altis petrol CVT). I don't know how the things are with Skoda DSG diesels now. Since you seem to love Skodas, I thought you could help me (Superb Style plus Diesel and Octavia top trim diesel too are among the contenders).

Re: Skoda Woes And The Ghost Of The Mechatronics!!

Are these issues also existent inn Skoda Superb 2016-2020 ? I am currently evaluating a pre-worshipped Superb (2016) done 59k km. While I am getting it evaluated at service centre, I could not find gross data on DSG failures in Superb after 2016 model. The price I am getting is 17-18, and am willing to bear 20% of costs on repairs.

Petrol or diesel?

The petrol's dry clutch 7S DSG DQ200 is far more prone to failure than the diesel's wet clutch 6S DQ250. Having said that, the Superb came with a slightly tweaked DQ200-F which was supposed to be more robust.

This is a Skoda Superb L&K 1.8 TSI AT petrol version. Technically the problematic one
I am also getting some Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI L&K in market with same drivetrain combination, 2018 make, still under warranty and ~25km on odo, but they are priced 21-22 lakhs, which seems high, especially with this Superb pricing available! To add more perspective, I am going for a lateral upgrade for me as my family is fed up of headache inducing backseat of XUV 500 W10 AT.

Any opinions will help.
