Swift will indicate the 'Remote Controller Outside' warning with a 'Key' symbol in the MID. In addition to this, the warning is also indicated by the sounding of interior and exterior buzzers.
Yes. There was an indication. But still a huge flaw. Right? Moreover the beep indicating the same wasn't really audible. It's only when I reached home and I opened the door to move behind in order to open the boot to take out the luggage, I noticed it.

Nothing much as a design flaw.
One only has to get used to it and maybe first read the owners manual thoroughly when possible to understand all fine prints of these features.
What you have experienced is common for all cars with the start/stop feature.

The MID indicated the error and you are supposed to take care of the message. I think you are expecting the system to take care with the scenarios as follows :
1) If there is no key inside the car, it cannot be driven.
2) The car must switch off automatically after a short distance.
3) The car must switch off automatically in the stationary position itself once the key is out.
I think it will be very complex to implement the first point and for the second one, it might create an accident if the car suddenly stops in the middle of the road. It will be irritating if they implement the third one.
You are just thinking only with the theft aspect and not on the human error possibility like what you did and that's the reason manufacturers decided the best like the one we have now.

Yes, my mistake. Never had enough time to go through the manual, leave aside reading the manual, I didn't even drive the car to my satisfaction till now. Time to apply for a short leave :)

agree:
I was actually expecting it to be as in the first situation that you have mentioned above. Yes now I get better idea of the system.
Thank you both

The scenic and picturesque location of the shoot really does justice to the car.

Yeah, the Swift does look awesome in that colour. How long was the waiting period?
Even I have booked a Swift VXi in the same colour. Unfortunately the waiting period in Chandigarh is unknown. They said 15-20 days since Maruti doesn't have it in stock and they supposedly only manufacture it on order. So they said mine will be built and then delivered to me. I wonder if that is true.

They are absolutely right.
It is not the old Maruti that used to mass manufacture and stock cars irrespective of orders received and later dump it into dealers yard forcing them to sell.
Now a days they ONLY manufacture depending on orders received from dealerships.
I had my Alto K10 VXi AMT in red delivered after 1.5 months wait whereas white and silver were almost delivered in 7 days.

Wow! That long? When was this? In the last two months maybe?
This is news to me. Thanks for sharing. I guess this means that I will get a fresh new car, right?

Yup. I booked the K10 on 13.04.15 and got it delivered on 31.05.15.
I got a fresh vehicle from the factory line. Verified with the DOT code on the tyres that read '1915' which means Week 19th of year 2015. So the tyres were manufactured anywhere between 4th May to 10th May 2015. clap:

When I went to pay the booking amount, the dealer informed me that someone had booked the swift of my exact choice of variant and colour and then cancelled the booking and the car was in transit. So they promised me delivery anytime after 7 days. However it was my choice to wait for a few more days because I wanted the car on the auspicious day of vishu. There are 4 different Maruti dealerships in a 3km range in my area, so they do their best to make the delivery of vehicles as early as possible. Congrats on your booking, and wish you good luck with your car.clap:

Nice. Did you also verify the VIN's last characters for the manufacturing month and year?

Thank you! Hope you continue to enjoy your pretty car for years and miles to come.
In Chandigarh there are only two platinum dealers and one downtrodden excuse for a showroom. There is another one but I haven't seen many cars from there. I booked mine from the one which has been around the longest. Nobody buys this colour. In fact one salesman said this might be the first red Swift they will be delivering after the latest facelift last year! I initially had booked Granite Grey but thought it would be lost in the sea of Swift's. Red stands out nicely. I have already paid the downpayment and the loan amount will also be disbursed soon. Hopefully I will get the car before the first EMI is due.

Good! Hopefully, I will see FF at the end... or GF if they do not start building the car this month. I probably takes them a week or two to build a car with a less popular colour. Even the loan amount has been disbursed to the dealer which makes the wait even harder.
