Hi guys, Any recommended MASS for EGR valve cleaning in Gurgaon (or Delhi) who can do it properly in front of my eyes.

My Swift VDi is giving black smoke on sudden acceleration.

The car is July'2013, 34k driven under 2+2 years warranty.

Got the 30k service done last month from Rana Motors, Gurgaon but didn't feel like getting it done from them.

Also, will brake pads change outside MASS will void warranty?

Getting the EGR cleaned would take you 6 to 8 hours depending on the mechanic and number of mechanics attending the car. First I suggest you to get the Air Filter cleaned or may be changed it not done.

If your not particular about getting it done at MASS if suggest you to get it done outside. Sometimes MASS doesn't accept the customer to be around in the service bay.

Smoke in exhaust after oil change during service may be due to oil in inter-cooler as a result of over filling in the Fiat MJD during the service. Getting the inter cooler cleaned at a FNG should solve the problem. Please try that before cleaning the EGR. As Anurag mentioned EGR cleaning is a cumbersome job.

If your brake pads are MGP, there should not be any issues.

Rana Motors (MASS) SA said that it will take two hours and they don't have a problem if I see how they do it but I am not very happy with the service standard of their workshop. They seem to be ok only for routine service.

I don't mind getting it done outside MASS if I get suggestion for a trustworthy place.

I will check Air Filter and clean/replace it. I think they (MASS) didn't replace it in 30k service.

Smoke in exhaust (on sudden acceleration) was even before oil change during service last month.

I will get inter-cooler and air filter checked at a FNG.

Anytime Maruti says that handling charges for purchase of vehicles comply to their company policy since it is a part of the contract agreement between the company and the dealership. Moreover there are absolutely no discounts on the Swift petrol. The exshowroom price of the Zxi is 6.57 lakhs in Guwahati as per the website but when I visited the dealership it was mentioned as 6.72 lakhs. They added extended warranty and handling charges to the original exshowroom price.

Verified and only then I took the delivery.

EF = May 2015

My brother took delivery of the car on my behalf after checking the VIN. He said the last characters read FF so I did indeed get a fresh car. Gotta change those Bridgestone S248 pizza cutters.

Pictures were sent via WhatsApp. Hopefully you will see the attachments here. Posting from mobile browser.

The Fiery red really looks like blood red. Congrats on the delivery. I am booking one of the grey coloured ZXI model tomorrow.

Thank you! I had initially booked Granite Grey but changed it to Fire Red because I figured since the Swift is soo common, I should get a colour that stands out no matter how good the grey looks. I am so glad I got the red.

If the car is not in the right rpm/gear, heavy acceleration will give black smoke. If excess oil has gone to the intercooler, the smoke will be white in colour & not black. Do you redline your car (after warming up)? If not I suggest, do some redlining. There may be carbon deposits which is causing the black smoke. Take the car to an empty road, redline in 1st & 2nd gears for around 30 seconds and you should be good. Do this done once in a while.

+1

The cure against black smoke is to take the engine to the higher rpms every once a while. The ECM will keep up, the car won't be sluggish and the carbon deposits too will not get time to settle down. And 3rd is the best gear for that. Have fun clearing carbon. :D

Yeah, that's the problem. I normally drive at around 2000-2500 rpm, occasionally upto 3000-3500.

Yesterday, thought of driving at higher RPMs but didn't feel like doing it (I am so used to driving at lower RPMs :p ).

Will make it a habit to drive at higher RPMs at least once a week. :)

Problem is finding the roads which can handle redline in 3rd. :D

Your heart is gonna break while redlining. Those 30 seconds will be a hellish experience. Please make sure the car is warm (5-10 kms run) before you do this & roads are clear & good.

Anybody tried 24 & 18 inch wiper blades on the Swift ? I'm not finding sizes 21&19 or 22 & 20 in bosch clear advantage at dealers or online.

Finally booked Swift ZXI Glistening Grey today at Bimal Auto Agency Guwahati. Booking advance is only Rs 5000/- which is way lower than the competition. I remember having paid 25000 for my Polo in 2013. Now eagerly waiting for delivery.
