re: I am in love again...with the New Ford Fiesta :: Text + Video Review!

Congratulations Aseem.

It is good to hear that there are still people out there who buy cars and listen to their heart and not their head.

I have seen some people put so much thought and calculations into car buying that their research and subsequent results can put Ph.Ds and Year End Balance Sheets of large corporations to shame. Not that I am saying it is wrong, it is after all our hard earned money!!

I also second you in that 0-100km times are of no use in the real world, especially in India. Any body who LOVES driving, knows, that what you need is a good tourqey engine coupled with a chassis and steering to match that deliver a fantastic driving experience.

It is good to know that when you bought your car, you listened to your heart, you listened to your soul, that way you will never go wrong.

Happy many miles motoring, drive safe.

re: I am in love again...with the New Ford Fiesta :: Text + Video Review!

Congratulations Aseem and welcome to the new Fiesta owner's club.

After 5 months of owning this car, I can tell you that this car will not disappoint you in any way.

I have lately seen more of this car on the roads - both in Delhi (where I live) and in Bangalore, (where I spend many working days in a month).

I had really liked the kinetic blue colour, but had found it to be more flashy for my age. I live in the world of black, grey, navy blue and brown business environment.

So when and where do we get to spot your ride (with the stickers) on the roads of Delhi.

BTW, I see that you took the delivery from the Harpreet Ford showroom at Moti Nagar - good decision. Do not EVER land up at Harpreet Ford, Gurgaon - located in the middle of nowhere and manned by a bunch of characters right out of Cartoon Network.

Been on a short sabbatical, and the reason for my presence on the forum today is another fiesta I spotted today morning - details on the spotting thread.

re: I am in love again...with the New Ford Fiesta :: Text + Video Review!

Congrats for your new steed, Aseem! I read the report yesterday and wanted to post this message, but somehow this thread disappeared for nearly 12 hours, and resurfaced today.

The blue colour on the new Fiesta looks really cool---like the old 1.6 S. I was blown away by the looks.

I am getting to see more New Fiestas nowadays. I saw one last night and was amazed to see how powerful the headlights were, but I am not sure if that car had got some mods done to increase the power of the lights.

Wish you many happy years of mile crunching. Please keep updating this thread.

From photos, it looks like you bought it from Harpreet Ford, Motinagar. Am I correct? I bought my Figo from there in Sept'11.

And sir, I've a complaint. The number of pics are not enough. I want at least 20 more pics, covering every angle of this blue beauty
Thank you so much for your compliments. Yours was the post that made me smile the most. Yes I bought the car from Moti Nagar Ford. They offered substancially more discount than Harpreet Ford Gurgaon.

The beauty of the deal is that I got the right PRICE (w/ discount), the best in class MILEAGE and plus I got the car that has the best drive. It was a no brainer.

You bring up an interesting point. Steering is absolute delight. At City speeds even with 205/55/15 rubber the steering is lighter than Honda City. At highway it weighs up and provides awesome feedback. In addition the horn is really light to press unlike other cars with airbags I have experienced.

Thanks. The color was something that was most debatable when we were finalizing the car. Mom stated this will stand out too much, any cop can catch you if you do speeding etc. She stated that I should settle for a more subtle color. That would have also meant I could have gone for Gray or Whtie. However I already have white Honda City. The streets are filled with white. And the car from far in white or gray looks like Ford Figo (not a good thing).
Now that we bought it, mom too was complimenting the color choice. She agrees white/gray would have been boring. This is making the car look more "phoreign" foriegn as per her

I am sure you will enjoy many happy mile crunching, drive safely. Can you post some pics of the interior please esp the dashboard. I simply love the futurstic looking dashboard.
The car doesnt come with JK. It comes with made in Germany Goodyear Eagle NCT 5 195/60/15. Got a buyback of 3500 Rs per tyre.

Interior pics conspicously missing as I plan to get leather seats done before I show the pics. Right now everything in plastic.

This colour goes great with black. I just pictured this Fiesta with black alloys and, boy, she looked hot. Ever thought of 'blackening' your alloy wheels?
I had actually gone for black alloys for my brothers Figo. And I was recommended bacl alloys with blue lining for Fiesta too by my whole family and friends. However I choose not to go with them only for 1 reason! Black alloys look like a tire rim w/o wheelcover at night. I wanted something that was more conservative and goodlooking/noticable at all times of the day.

...but I am glad you looked at the other FTD cars on your list in the manner you described above. With the errant biker and your other choice, you really never know what might have happened!
Two interesting points here:

1. Fiesta would be cheaper to maintain than both Skoda Rapid and VW Vento though its not a MUL.

2. My threads kept dissapearing as I was too excited and unknowingly broke many rules. TBHP has changed since I was last very active on the forum. But I have since corrected my mistakes, no more vanishing threads

Except for bang on rear, I have found the new one to be THE looker of this class, and around it too.
rear/front 3/4ths, headon, any angle.

Any view which has the headlight in view, though, is unbeatable!

Attachment 883348
I used too think that the rear 3/4th was ugly. But after I got the new alloys, its not looking out of place at all. Maybe I got used to it, or maybe the new tires add the bulk that was sorely missed in the rear.

The alloys look nice IMO. It will look even better if you can source centre caps with Ford logo for the wheels

Is the audio system same across all 4 variants?

And I really liked this line in the opening post: “Upper middle class people buy a Honda City, they buy a VW, they buy Skoda, but who buys a Ford right?” – very well said
Thanks. The audio system is same across all variants, but top two variants come with BT and USB.

I had tried changing the centre caps of alloys, but new ones didnt fit. I will ask Jitesh to hook me up with something jazzy. And thanks for being the only one that likes my choice of alloys.

Well Fogs are for 10k. I might as well have gone for Trend if I planned to have them. I plan to sell the car in 2-3 years, I would just settle for leather seats and an armrest at best. I know the fogs look hot.

Thank you all for your compliments. More HQ pictures would be posted tonight.

Few miscellenous observations:

1) The car is not underpowered, its the chasis that makes 150 kmph feel like 100 kmph that you feel the need for more. Its just so addictive.

2) Suspension is very very good like Swift. It hugs corners, but unlike Swift its not harsh. Ride is absolutely smooth. Ford has found something thats just right for Indian roads.

3) Potholes dont spoil the composure of the car.

4) 100 comes up at 2000 rpm on 5th and 2700 rpm on 4th. The 4th and 5th ratios are very close.

I have been cleaning the car since yesterday. Dont remember when was the last time I was so passionate about a car!

Curious about this one. This OTR is Gurgaon or Delhi? Or is it Chandigarh? Can you give me the details of this offer? This will benefit me greatly. AFAIR, the VW guys were only offering corp discount on the new Jetta. I will really appreciate a quick response. I assume this is the Trendline version..

What a wonderful car. It looks ravishing in this colour!
I saw a Fiesta parked in my office lot today and I've quite fallen for it. The kinetic design and sporty stance have me smitten.

Wish you many happy miles of motoring and happy pages of writing so that we can share your experiences.

Congrats aseem. That's a great car you got there. Lovely colour as well. I do hope Ford launch the new Fiesta hatch here soon.

I am hearing about some delicious discounts on the new Fiesta. A close friend is about to book one. Confused between the Trend and the Titanium.

Didn't know about the difference in seats between the lower variants and the Titanium. All I have seen is T and T+ variants on road till now.

Keep having fun and drive safe.

This was OTR Gurgaon on 2011 model Trendline. Last peace left 2 weeks back. I am not sure if this offer would be still valid.

Yup, it is what it is. If not for alloys looking like steel wheels w/o cover at night, this would have been my choice as well.

The seat is not bad compared to other cars in this segment in the Style and Trend variant. Its just that it doesnt have the thigh support of the Titanium version.

Thank you for your wishes. The design grows on you. Call it whatever, but I am seeing lot of guys giving me stares when I drive the car.

One development that I need TBHPians expert help. As you are aware I have upsized the tires to 205/55/15 retaining the overall diameter. However the left front when going over a pothole at 100+ speeds sometimes makes a "chunk" sound like its bottoming out. The right front never complains. What could be the problem, and how can I fix this? I do know that I am going at very high speeds to emulate this sound and deliberately taking the cars to its limit to get it to make that sound. The sound only comes when I am over 100 and the pot hole or thump is relatively big. Small to medium ones, car is just gliding over.

Interior pics as discussed. Not showing the seats as I want the leather to come in first. As you can see 475 km in 4 days.

I dont think a lot of aftermarket accesseries like Fog or Seat Covers are available in the aftermarket as the car is fairly new and not that popular yet! I can predict you would see a change in fortune shortly.

Would you mind posting the price & discounts you got? That would help a lot of people to consider this car too [most of them shy away from this car due to the price] & grow the tribe. That also will help them to haggle for realistic discounts too.

If you are interested, you could try aftermarket shops. You might be able to grab OEM stuff for much lesser price. Dealer usually make a GOOD profit on these accessories.

I think that you should be taking Large Potholes slowly if not then you will not even have a Suspension to talk about.

I think your Left Front Tyre might be damaged or may have less air.

The left front has no damage. Actually I am going fast trying to emulate the sound as it doesnt come often. I am trying to isolate the problem. I have ensured the tire pressures are correct.

Few noticable edits to my earlier findings about the car:

1) With a light foot car loves to revv and provides adequate plus power to put a smile on your face.

2) My traveling time has reduced over Honda City by good 10 minutes. You can associate this with following:
- No need to stand on brakes for every small speed breaker like Honda City
- Cars composure on broken roads. Hardly anything felt inside the cabin.
- Torquey engine a boon for drives inside the City.

3) Braking is very good. ABS hasn't kicked yet. The car comes very close to maintaining a straight line when braking.. There is a slightest of movement but no dramas.

4) I used to have pain behind my right knee when driving the City. The muscle is called Bersa. I am not feeling that pain in Fiesta, so the riding posture is good for my injury.

5) The locking system of the car is a pain. Even when I press the lock button anyone can open door from inside. This is very risky with children in car. Am I missing something?

6) Steering has great grip. Its a delight to hold. Really really good.

7) The donut with this car is a small tire (14") like you get in US of A. But the jack and the spear is very tightly packed. Everything is attached to something so that there is no noise.

8) Color is a dust magnet and a chick magnet

Overall I need to relax a bit. The car has just made me feel like a teenager again. I keep trying to come up with excuses to drive. Since Saturday I have driven 500 kms. I had fill 1400 Rs of diesel for tank full, now the needle is 2/5th left. I am guessing I can extract another 200 km more. Switching from petrol this feels like I am driving for free.

Do I see a colour display in the centre console? I remember seeing a normal red LCD display during my TD as well as Rehaan's review. Has Ford updated to a full colour unit recently?
