A couple of clarifications -

Did you take white bulb for the headlamp? On the picture I read white.

And the armrest - How different is the color from the rest of the interior?

Also, are you looking for additional lights/aux lights?

Good updates and keep them coming.

Cheers
Rajain
The bulbs are emitting white light. You can compare it to 4300k HID.
Recently completed a 400 KM night drive with my new headlight setup. I really happy that i choose this setup. My 2200 bucks well spent.

Excellent high beam. Low beam is OK..OK type. But one can manage.

Armrest color is almost same as Ertiga interior.

As of now no aux/extra light. But i want to upgrade the fog lamp bulb to 55 w bulbs. The stock wattage is 35 w.

re: Hatch Back To "LUV" - My New Ertiga ZXi EDIT: Now sold!

Guys, I had an accident.

Moron Biker……

A biker with 2 pillion (Triple on bike) hit my LUV from rear when I was waiting at signal.
Rear bumper (Left side) took the heat . This cannot be repaired. The new one will cost around 9500.

Those biker were student of local college. They fled with the bike after the accident.
I managed to catch one of them and took him to the nearest police station.

I have zero Depreciation insurance cover. I did not claim any money from the bikers (As those were students with borrowed bike. )

Should I go for the claim or I will pay for the repair ??

My LUV after the accident ..

I think you can repair it with plastic fusing from inside the bumper. Probably you may have to do it yourself.

I agree with you that Zero Depreciation claim would replace the bumper but after seeing the pics I don't think you should take it. Being hit on the lowest part of the bumper I think you can get it stitched properly and clean it with rubbing compound as paint has not been damaged.

Please refer to this link: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...-pg-2-a-3.html

Later on, If you need to hide the stitch just place a bumper protector on it. The total expense may not cost you more than INR 800/- which I am sure is less than the file charges that are paid on claiming the Zero-Depreciation policy.

Thanks

Hello All

I did not claim the insurance for the damage repair.
I fixed the damaged bumper in a local paint shop. They have done an excellent job.

re: Hatch Back To "LUV" - My New Ertiga ZXi EDIT: Now sold!

Great thread Kalinga! Very informative with minute attention to detail. I see you have bought quite a lot of car care products for your LUV!

I just bought an Ertiga VDi couple of months back and I will surely pick up some pointers from your thread while shopping for them myself, Thanks again for the info.

What I am particularly interested in is the Central Armrest. I had a few queries on it. I already asked the same to @paragsachania but wanted to know what your experience is:

- When I try to shake the cover on top of the handbrake, I observed that its easy to shake it. If the hand rest is installed on top of it, does the handrest also shake (sideways) when you rest your hand on it and put some pressure?
- Have you faced any rattling issues because of this installation (from the armrest, or the plastic cover around the handbrake)?

Here is a link to parag's response to these queries.

BTW, your car looked awfully familiar to me and I thought that I saw your car in my office's parking lot. Just noticed in the above pictures that you have a Persistent System's parking sticker. I also work in Persistent. Do you sit in AR/PG?

Yes there is some rattling noise from the armrest. But it can be fixed. I have already identified the suspected area. I will fix them this weekend.

Yes I am working for PSL. Sent you a PM.

Nice thread indeed. Seems that you are taking very good care of your car & I am sure the LUV is taking very good care of yours. With your kind of usage, why did not you choose a diesel then.

You have mentioned that the petrol engine power is adequate with load. But with real full load for the car ( 5/6 adults & full luggage), have you ever felt the need for more power particularly while overtaking on highways etc. ? How is the noise level (wind noise in particular) inside the cabin at highway cruising speeds? Also please inform the ride quality for the middle row passenger when the car has not enough load ( eg. driver & one passenger seating in the middle row).

Best wishes & keep enjoying the car.

Cheers

Thanks Kalinga for sharing such a wonderful thread. Oflate there are very few active petrol car threads and threads like yours add value to the community. Your thread will be of immense help to people who wish to look at pertol Ertiga.

Since you have already covered 15k in one year and hope you will continue to munch many more miles in the coming years, do you feel that you should have opted for the diesel engine rather than the petrol.

Alternatively, have you thought of installing CNG/LPG kits if your mileage is going to increase substantially in the coming years. How's CNG/LPG availability in pune?

Hello Chitta Bhai,
Thanks for your comments.

Previously my usage was very less, around 800 KM per month. So i choose the petrol model.
But now a days it has increased to 1800 KM Per month.

Regarding the engine power, the 1.4 it’s engine has sufficient power to pull the car with AC on.
I have travelled many ghat section with 4/7 adults + luggage with AC on. Never feel the car is under power.
Normal drive to overtaking no issue at all. Even I have used my LUV for home shifting. Down all the seat (including front passenger seat),load stuff to the brim. I had almost emptied half of my house.

My car has completed 18000 KM yesterday(in 1.1 year).
I am getting constantly 13 kmpl in city and 15/16 kmpl on highway with AC on fulltime.

Engine noise is normal in city and on highway after 120 KMPH, you can hear some noise. But that is manageable. No issue at all.

The middle row is very good with or without load. My son use the middle row as his bed in my long drive.

In 8.5 lac budget this is the best MUV. I really happy that i choose the LUV.

Thanks Arunu for your comments.

My LUV has completed 18000 KM yesterday.

No i never prefer CNG/LPG really. Actually i feel unsafe in LPG/CNG vechile.
That’s the main reason.

I will prefer diesel over CNG model.

Yes, in Pune there is no issue for CNG supply. Many pumps have CNG now.

The Work-In-Progress pics.
They remove the original cover from the seat.
It’s your decision to keep it or not.
Copper wire & Thick thread inserted in the seat cover to keep it in tight shape.
