re: Story of Hercules - My Tata Safari Storme EX

Had been thinking of naming my ride for quite some time.

Its going to be 1 year in another 20 days. I had to name it before its first anniversary. Even after a lot of pondering and deliberation I could not come to finalize any name till a friend casually mentioned this "word" in a casual discussion.

Gentlemen - I present to you my 11 months 10 days old Tata Safari Storme EX now fondly called - "HERCULES".

Jasmeet, congrats on your Hercules. Tata Storme is a vehicle that I have been considering in my own experience as well... wish you many more happy miles and happy motoring!

re: Story of Hercules - My Tata Safari Storme EX

Hercules turned One year old on 16th October 2014.

What better celebration than taking the muscle out on a road trip for some flexing. Planned a 800 kms trip. Started on 15th October to Nalagarh fort, visited Anandpur Sahib, stopped over at Chandigarh on the way back to Delhi (detailed thread will come too ).

The ODO reads close to 20k kms now. Hercules performed superbly on the road. Amazing pickup, superb control and stability on the highway. Just cruises above the potholes and unevenly leveled roads. Gives you amazing confidence on the road. Once again I thank the Tatas for making this.

Re: Story of Hercules - My Tata Safari Storme EX

Hercules has completed the 20k mark day before yesterday. In my 1 year and 20k kms with this guy, I have observed the below mentioned:

Positives :

1) Stands Tall : Amazing view of the road. Gives you an edge in anticipating the traffic.
2) Great Pick up : Honestly, I never had imagined that this machine of this size will have this pick up. It just gives me as much power as I need on pressing the accelerator. I have never struggled for power till now with this.(except once - mentioned in negatives. Read on! )
3) Amazing Handling : The turning radius has been reduced in Storme from its predecessors. It handles beautifully. A huge machine like this listens to you and does what you instruct in terms of steering maneuverability.
4) Decent Fuel efficiency : I am not very finicky about the FE. But as per my rough calculations, its giving me more than 10 with AC in city drives. On highways its definitely more than 12.
5) Comfortable seating : The most comfortable driving seat that I have come across till now. I feel like am sitting on my couch. My patience in Delhi traffic has increased now as I am sitting comfortably in "My Zone".
6) TASS : I never thought I would write this one in positives before purchasing this. Am getting my stuff done from Dhingra Motors in Gurgaon and I have found them to be way better than I ever expected. The market perception about TASS i believe is pretty exaggerated IMHO.
7) Road Presence : Its size and aggressive stance gets it the kind of acknowledgement on the roads that you would definitely want for your vehicle.

Negatives :
1) I struggled a bit on my way to Nainital from Corbett. The hills were really steep and we had a full cabin of five passengers. It might be due to Hercules being a 2 wheel drive. Have never driven a 4 wheel drive so I can't say that was the issue.
2) The size goes against it if you take it to congested roads but then I always knew about it so I avoid taking it where I know it won't fit.

Not a single issue or a niggle till now and I am grateful for that. Will keep this thread updated.

Hey JM, congratulations on the great milestone. Thats nice mileage for 1 year. Wish you unlimited more of it! Cool you've been to the Corbett with Hercules. Must have been a joy ride. Hercules must have enjoyed it a lot. Thats where the beast really feels at home.

OT, seems you've clicked that picture when stationary in idle with doors open and no handbrake

Thanks for the kind words Reinhard.

The pic was clicked when I was waiting for my co-passenger to come on board. Reason for the door open sign. Wanted to click it at exact 20000 but suddenly realized that I had overshot it by 6 kms. Clicked it anyways

Nice to know that Hercules is living up to your expectations and nice to know that there is no niggle too. All the best. Keep revving

Re: Story of Hercules - My Tata Safari Storme EX

Congratulations on completing a run of 20,000 kms in an year and a month with the Hercules. I am a little late in latching on to the thread but still wishing you many more happy, safe and niggle free miles with your beast. Was so hooked up to the thread that read all in one go. Keep up with the bull bar as an additional safety feature as the traffic in Delhi-NCR now-a-days is such that even people with Alto’s are opting for bull bar’s.
