Re: Pre-Owned Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 GT (Dubai)

Lancy has touched 1,30,000 kms now.

Took her for a minor service yesterday at a FNG. Changed the engine oil (fully synthetic) and Mitsubishi branded original oil filter.

Total cost = 150 AED ~ 2,725 INR

Minor issues -
  • The car is pulling very slightly to the right, need to check the alignment.
  • Steering feedback is not very smooth, some minor jerks can be felt when straightening out from U-turns and round-abouts.
  • Wind noise from the rear left door above 80 kmph. The door beadings seems to be fine.
Overall FE -
  • Within City - 9.5 kmpl
  • Highways @ 140 kmph - 11 kmpl

Installed a new TPMS system in Lancy.

More details covered here.

Re: Pre-Owned Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 GT (Dubai)

Got a pair of fake fender vents for my car. I thought it looked cool on the EVO and hence impulsively decided to buy it!

At first glance, I did not like it! It gives my car a ricer look! Let's see if I get used to it...

Re: Pre-Owned Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 GT (Dubai)

Lancy has crossed 1,40,000 kms. Got her serviced this weekend.

Things done -
  • Oil changed to ADNOC fully synthetic oil
  • Oil filter replaced
  • Air filter cleaned
  • AC filter cleaned
  • Spark Plugs changed
Total cost - 210 AED ~ 3,865 INR

Cost of the spark plugs not included in the above since I already had the part with me.

Out goes the crappy GoodYears and in comes these -

Attachment 1400346

Nitto Invo 225/40 R18
Have driven about 15,000 kms with the Nitto Invos.

Did a tyre rotation yesterday and checked alignment.

Alignment is perfect. I used to feel a slight pulling to the right, which was solved after the rotation.

Coming to the tyres, I am pretty satisfied with these tyres. Road noise is not very high, grip is good and the tread looks hot! All that matters now is how good the tread life is.

About 100 days later, Lancy has touched the 1,50,000 mark. Yes, that's a milestone!

Got her serviced this weekend but at a different place than my usual FNG. Wanted to try out this new garage.

Things done -
  • Oil changed to Castrol synthetic oil
  • Oil filter replaced
  • Air filter cleaned
Total cost - 150 AED ~ 2,700 INR

I wish I could write something more about Lancy but it is the same old Japanese boring reliability story with no issues, failures or glitches. Except that, the car is not really boring.

Yes, the NVH is really sad and I feel my diesel XUV back homes fares better but the car is on it's own when it gets to triple digit speeds. And the looks make sure I look back at it every time I park the car!

Re: Pre-Owned Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 GT (Dubai)

Lancy gave it's third non-service expense yesterday.

Up till now, the only money I have spent on Lancy is for her scheduled services and some accessories. Other than that, I have replaced the battery and tyres.

Nothing major this time, I could observe a slight steering vibration while braking. Turned out that the front discs/rotors needed skimming. It costed me 180 AED (approx 3,200 INR) and the problem was solved.

Not bad for a car which has touched 1,52,000 kms, isn't it?

:clap

This sums it up. I'm sure you are having fun driving her. And wish you many more trouble free and reliable years.

Re: Pre-Owned Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 GT (Dubai)

Good to see the lancer giving you a trouble free service. I always admired the Ex GT variant and always wanted my Dad to buy one. But his travel involves around construction sites hence we had to get a RAV4 and currently have a CR-V. But he has his heart set on the new Outlander and might pick it up sometime in the next year. But I still would try to convince him for the Ex GT. Sometime back in 2007/08 our car was given for servicing and Dad had to get a car on rent. He had then got a Lancer Ex 1.6. The Ex was newly launched then and I fell in love with the design. It is timeless and the 2.0 GT variant makes it even more special.

Thanks! Yes, a SUV or a crossover is surely better for rough terrains.

The new Outlander looks class.

Much better than the ugly new Pajero Sport.

GT does look a lot better than the normal Lancer EX.

Have you seen the facelift with the slightly modified front bumper, grille and LEDs?

Again, after 118 days, Lancy touched 1,60,000 kms on it's odo.

This was the time for her major service. As always, I jotted down everything listed in her service manual and gave the list to my FNG.

Parts changed were -
  • Engine oil (Adnoc Gold Fully Synthetic) - 2,160 INR
  • Oil filter - 450 INR
  • Brake Fluid - 270 INR
  • Air filter - 1,710 INR
  • Coolant (Mitsubishi Premium) - 720 INR
  • CVT transmission fluid (Mitsubishi Eco CVTF-J4) - 3,600
  • Headlamp pilot bulb - 90 INR
Labor charges - 2,700 INR

Total - 11,700 INR

After the major service, the engine sounds a bit more refined.

Other faults - None, that's expected of this car now!
