Woah anshurao you mean your 1.5 GT TDI is here ??

If yes, I can imagine the anxiety you are going through but can you please post some quick pics and a brief report of how you procured your GT so early, when many of the dealers have given 2-3 months waiting period to the others.

In any case, Congrats on your buy.

re: My 2014 VW Polo 1.5 TDI : First Ownership Report. EDIT, 10000 kms up

Thank You so much!!
Yes indeed it is the Polo 1.5 GT TDI. I was one of the 1st few to book it in Goa, in fact mine was booking #3, others had booked the steel grey and I booked the flash Red. There is high demand for the Polo in Steel Grey. Will visit the yard to check out the car.
I am so excited to get my hands on it.

Thanks for the pics anshurao. The chrome on the front bumper looks odd IMO. Did you have a look at the seat fabric, dead pedal, lights ?

Congrats. Can't wait to read your views about the engine (105 ps this time). This could be the first new GT TDI on TeamBHP

So what exactly are the differences between the 1.5 TDI Highline and the GT TDI? Other than the engine tune, that is.

Apart from the higher state of tune, we have:
  • Piano black finish around the center control as compared to the brushed aluminum on the highline
  • Sporty pedals
  • Glossy black spoiler and ORVM's
  • Different colour options
  • All black headlamp switch for the GT
  • All black dash as compared to the dual tone on the highline
  • Different seat fabric with darker coloured seats
  • GT badging on the front grill
  • GT and TDI badging on the rear as opposed to Polo and TDI for the highline
  • Different alloy wheel design

I think this sums it up. Please feel free to add to the list in case I missed out on something.

The all black headlamp switch perplexes me. Why should the chrome switch be missing in a highline? It's a fly in the ointment like the old GT TDI
VW why not a front armrest, when the elite i20 can and you can in Europe, SA why not India?
A 9 lac plus car!!!

1. GT alloys are from old second gen Polo version. Too bad. Seriously vw trying to clear old stock.
2. Zigor, have you tried Michelin xm2 185/60 r15?
3. Zigor, you can buy first gen 15 inch vw polo alloys now (if you wish) for just 4000 piece. Personally i like second gen design which now new polo gt is having.

Even old Polo GTs had the same all black headlamp switch.
Front armrest would have been a good addition.
Just to add here, Polo the non GT models highline retails well over 10 Lacs abroad. Polo Blue GT starts above 16 lakhs INR abroad, Bluetooth radio is an optional extra. You surely do get a highline instrument cluster, 16/17inch alloys, and a GT bumper at that price.

Old GT alloys were a direct import from Spain and looks like they have tried to keep it that way even in the new Polo.

I wanted to change my headlamps of my Polo GT to that of the new one, but each one costs 13K INR. The previous blackened headlamps only cost 4K per piece.

The new I20 is the best i20 that hyundai have ever launched, but it still lack an instrument cluster that is as good as a Polo or that of a car which is a segment lower. The ride at the rear seat is very bumpy and the car unsettles at highway speeds. The rear bumper is cut in an angle that spoils the entire rear end look of the car. The things that I liked in the i20 is the 16 inch alloy ( not the design , but the size 16 inch ),the JBL surround system that comes default and the space for the rear passengers.

2. Sorry friend, Michelin would not work well on some of the roads that I travel on(slightly soft). Bridgestone is perfect for me.
3. Currently out of station, so no time for alloys but I will keep this in mind.

Pics that I took some time back (Seat covers and Mats). Please note almost (except mats) black interiors. Black is sporty, easy to maintain and uncluttered.

Hi Zigor

Those red mats look out of place. Looking cheap. Similarly, what is the material of those black seat covers. Again workmanship looking awful. Polo deserves better. Sorry man to have said this. But they don't look nice.

No, they cut costs here too! Not only are they same as the old GT, they are not longer 'Made in Spain' diamond finish. These are now 'Made in India' normal finish. This was discussed on the GT TSI thread. You might have to look closely at old/new GT alloys to see difference.
