Busa, i just have to get the car before june 15th.. thats my deadline.... i can wait till that.... for now, i feel Verna SX is the best choice in the segment...

If SX4 comes out and given a good review, i may go for it... i just wanted diesel because i thought diesel will work out econmical for long run... not just particular about diesel as i dont run the car more than 600-800kms a month.. will see on 7th...

dudes ...verna crdi + abs..is simply .....PERFORMANCE ..START N STOP ...for the racers at heart...thts my verdict on this baby....

Hi all,

Verna really is a PERFORMANCE car, I didn’t realize till it overtook my ikon 1.6.

I was heading to bangalore from devanahalli with an average speed of 100km/h in my ikon 1.6nxt at around 8am. Had to slow down, as there was speed breaker ahead and saw a red verna crdi just behind me. Just floored my ikon to see if the verna guy is in the racing mood or not and to my surprise he overtook me in such a way that after 3sec he disappears even though i was flooring. I was not able to at least follow him...The whole day I was just thinking about verna crdi and felt very bad about my ikon.

This brought a smile to my face:) . Rajs, yes verna is way too powerful than 1.6. For that matter, even an accent crdi can beat 1.6. Please understand lot of things matter and one of the imp being age of the car, you racing a how many year old car with probably a swanking new verna.

Finally, do understand that there is always a better and more powerful car out there that can beat the existing car that we all drive. So chill and there is nothing to be worried about.

Dont know how Verna will perform with pete's box,
I guess it should be a stunner...
have any one tried verna with pete's box? any reviews...

With Pete, it goes from 110bhp to 130bhp and torque curve jumps from 24kgm to ~30kgm, i dont think its built that strong to take this additional power.

Best is to enjoy it stock with bigger rubber and ABS-EBD if available.

All cars can handle some additional power thrown at them, a petes would not do any bad to the car engine strenght if not any good.

As mobike008 pointed out, Verna crdi is indeed much too quick for Ikon 1.6. The moment you are forced to slow down and find the guy right at your tail with a clear stretch ahead, you are lost.

This reminds me of the occasion on which I pulled up parallel to a Benz at a signal in Pune in my Santro. Apparently the guy thought I was trying to race him and floored the pedal in the clear stretch ahead. He disappeared before I could get to third gear. But the joke is that about 5 kms and several signals later, I find myself alongside the Benz again! I tried to heap the ultimate indignity on the guy by passing him in my Santro, but couldn't manage it on that day; luck wasn't on my side.

So cheer up, Rajs. On another day and with better luck, you might be able to put a few vehicles between yourself and a Verna crdi, and after that it is down to driving skills, given enough traffic.

Dude verna is not at all a performance car but ya its engine is powerful. Its has a very shoddy handling it feels like boat at high speeds. I have driven it for appx 500KM and have raced it with fiesta 1.6 on highway. Though its great in outright acceleration till 3rd gear but FIESTA is a BEAST IN 3rd gear. And handling / breaking of fiesta is so great that i worked my az off on the one way high in PUNJAB and i was so scared to go beyond 150 where as fiesta guy OMG he passed even SKODAS / MERCS going 150+ and he was still flooring it.

So i think there is some problem in your car or maybe the verna guy was flooring hard in 3rd gear and you must be in 5th gear.

i have driven about 2200 kms on my verna SX CRDI. The car is great to drive and i love every second of it. The suspension is good, i never felt the pot holes and the AC is excellent. I dont see whats the use to AUTO AC here. can someone tell me its use..? Also in the trip meter it doesnt show the average fuel consumption but in manual is says it will show fuel consumption. Is this feature included for india//?? I felt bad when i read the manual thal so much features like airbag, EBD and others were omitted or were'nt even optional for indians. I hate this attitude of car makers.

Busa, i wasnt talking about the engine taking this additional power, I meant that most Hyundai cars are known for their oriental lightness ( not fully stuck to the ground) when at high speeds due to built quality not that strong ( for e.g, a skoda) and more power means you tend to test its top grunt and then you will be literall flyin';)

rightly said rks,mobike008

I agree that verna crdi is faster than an ikon 1.6 but what surprised me was i was not able to at least follow him...that's the point here.

I have not tested a verna in 150+ speeds... so verna crdi guys should enlighten these statements though I agree with fiesta handling.

as we both reached speed breaker i had to put it in first gear and i guess he should also be in the first...and i think there is no problem in my car as its behaving normal..

Well the petes box doesnot improve the top speed but the acceleration though whoever is going for petes would have wider rubber dont they, for e.g look at your self, dont you have wide tyres and alloys first and now only you are planing to install a petes box aren't you:confused:

I am currently on stock 13" Bridgestones and same sized alloys.

When i will go for petes hopefully by end of this year, i will change them to 15" inchers for sure. Currently, above 150+kmph, the car does not seem really stuck to the ground especially, if i am on 32 psi...its much better if i am on 30 psi.
