Hi Steeroid and Sam , thnx for the pointer maybe its the Hyundai website which listed the front fog lamps as a safety feature , that mislead me into thinking so , refer the follwing link (Verna : Feel It) .... even other wise the wattage of these lamps are pretty low for them to qualify as fog lamps.

Would it be advisable to change the bulbs in these lamps , of course with the relays and likewise to the likes of the yellow coloured bulbs that you guys were referring to ....or is it even possible to do such a modification without changing the OE reflectors ?

bro thanks a lot .......well i love the red hot beast.......well i have 16inc chrome alloys and goodyear f1 195/55/16 tyres.......well me getting fe of around 16 -17 so dnt think any drop in fe.......

Tell me guys, i read and heard a lot about the verna, so i went for a test drive and was disappointed. The pick up and all is ok but the car feels very tacky in the handling front and also is quite noisy in the inside of the cabin. n fact there was a distinct vibration when idling and an irritating hum. The vibration could be felt on the steering wheel and the foot rest. and this was a customers car come in for the first service ( which was done)..is it like this in al vernas, coz if this is the case then im surely not touching the car with a barge pole.

I wanted to ask this to all Verna Owners earlier as well.

Saw a striking black Verna CRDI today on road. The road was slightly rough (not potholes), but the car seemed to pitch (up and down motion) over the surface. I have driven one earlier (Petrol) and it appeared to have soft suspension. So, how well does the car handle in comparison with other cars like Baleno/Fiesta/Petra? (last one there only because I own it. I suspect not many would have driven it anyway)

Having awesome 0-100 in straight is one thing, but it has to be matched up with handling as well. Handling need not be as fantastic as a Lancer, but at least decent enough to do justice to the torque and power of Verna CRDI.

P.S.: V-16 seemed to have posed same question, while I was drafting this post.

First thing, I didnt know that the cars we give for servicing will be given for third parties for test-drives. It is very pathetic to see such practices being followed by dealers. At least, if we insist that we wont take test drives on other peoples cars without their knowledge, it will be good. (Exception : If the owner agrees to give his car for test drive, it is perfectly ok)

Regarding the suspension and noise, when I took a test drive of the Verna; we switched off the ac and there was a marginal wind noise in the highway stretch (above 100 kmph). Then we took it through some bad roads, and the suspension looked to be ok. There was little noise when it went over potholes, but it was acceptable (to me). I've not been in too many high-end performance cars, but I have travelled in my friends city VX and I didnt feel anything drastically different in Verna, regarding ride comfort.

The Verna is pretty comfy & has a decent ride. But with regards to the handling it's not very good since the suspension is quite soft & there's a lot of Body Roll & Wallow. It also doesn't like being hurled around too much.

I'm not saying it's bad since it's not but if you like your car to have sharp handling & throw her around a bit then the Verna's not for you.

Verna is definitely not a driver's delight but the CRDi is a better car than its petrol version. CRDi has a better handling than the VTVT though not upto Fiesta standards.

Comfort of hyundai cars in general are much higher than any other cars. Verna cant be compared to Fiesta in the handling department but surely is comparable with NHC and Aveo.

I think hyundai should add the "ESC" (Electronic Stability Control) feature to their cars to compromise the handling area. This way the comfort of their cars wont be reduced either.

My car had about 35 kms on its odo , when i took delivey of it at TVM and i belive any figure less than 60 - 70 kms is acceptable but definitley not beyond that

You are absolutely right. Actually the car I chose was in the backyard and it was not a display car. The display car was a red one with a yellow registration (number plate).
Anyway, I just now called them up and again made sure that it is not given out for test drives :)

I had gone through the post, but my dealer "told" me that they dont give private vehicles for test drives. They have designated test drive vehicles for the same purpose. They told they wont be able to tamper with the odo since it is digital. The best we can do before delivery is to make sure the odo reading is not too much.... something in the range < 50 kms
