But as VFM and a good package plus a better service it's the Verna. |
I think 8.5 lakhs OTR in Bangalore is on the higher side. The verna has a damn good engine but charging that much is not VFM. I still think it should be priced around 7.5-7.6 lakhs. Even the fiesta TDCi is over priced.
Hyundai definitely has a better service than Ford.
I have a feeling Hyundai and Ford are going to reduce their prices next year when a slew of diesel cars hit the market, especially the ones with fiat engines( well, most of them seem to have that).

The Accent's price was in the range 3.25 to 4.5 lakhs. So the 4.5 lakhs should be for the CRDi. The prices are for 2 year old cars.

That said, one must also take the car's initial price into account while comparing resale values - an Accent sells now at 5.5L - 6.5L (big discounts), while the NHC goes at 7-9L (OHC went for 8-10L), so the resale values should also be comparatively lesser. |
The reason for this decline according to "BS" is because that executives which includes a lot of young people are making a lot of money and they're giving away their cars at throw away prices for higher end models. These prices must be available at cosmopolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore only whereas in smaller towns the second hand prices must be higher.

Yeah hyundai may introduce another diesel variant with all features at a higher price and reduce the price of the current one when competition heats up. Its a good game ahead to wait and watch.
Can anybody do a comparison test for[ FE figures important]:
Tata Indigo TDI Vs Hyundai accent CRDi
&& Ford fiesta TDCI Vs Hyundai verna CRDi
Guys, after considering various cars over last 3 months and test driving some of them (and driving my wife crazy with various pros and cons) and your inputs on the verna, I have gone ahead and booked a Verna Xi (Petrol).
The dealer has informed me that it should take 2 - 3 weeks for delivery.
Thank you for your inputs.
Ford fiesta TDCI VS Hyundai Verna CRdi
Speaking to owners along with inputs from the reviews in the tv shows of the fiesta vs verna diesel:
1>. For city driving the Fiesta is better than the verna since low end torque of fiesta is better.
2>. The fiesta engine is more refined than the verna so also the gearbox is better than the verna, handling also fiesta is better.
3>. Mileage - fiesta is better[I dont have exact figures]
4>. Bad roads fiesta is better
5>. Engine performance[highways especially] fiesta not even close to the verna
6>. Customer service, maintainance and spare parts- Hyundai all the way[although this is taken only on the basis of past hyundai cars vs ford experiences]
7>. In terms of legroom and space inside the verna beats the fiesta.
8>. pick between the two- No distinct winner[meaning choose whats best for you]
Sales figure of fiesta tdci has dropped after the introduction of the verna crdi.

This is quite obvious with an additional 40 horses doing the job for Verna.

Cant be said like that. Fiesta is ofcourse a bit more better to drive in city in certain conditions. This is due to the turbo lag present in Verna. Verna's engines has been tuned for both low and high end performance. But in the process there is a slight turbolag at speeds from 20 - 40 kph. The Fiesta is ahead of Verna in this speed only by about 1 second. The Fiesta will feel better in this range. Rest its Verna all the way.
FE of Fiesta is better but the difference in Verna is just marginal. There's a difference of just over 1 km. Considering the power of Verna this is not much.
But if you're driving only in city conditions with speeds not very high it's the Fiesta which is better. But on the overall factor such as interior space, comfort, features, low spare parts costs and good service the Verna is above Fiesta.

OT: Anyone has FE figures for the Accent CRDi, to have a comparo with the Verna ? |
I own a Accent CRDi 2004 model. The best mileage I got so far on highway was 17.6km. I got this when i was maintaing the speed between 70-90. if I revvs up the engine, the mileage drops to 15 - 15.5 range. And in the city its 11.5 - 12.5km.
Note: all with a/c.
any one u has verna crdi plz write your review
This is what my bro-in law had to say about Verna . " It sucks !- this is car can be bought for its engine , nothing else goes in its favour . Its roomy ,yes . But for that I prefer NHC to this any day . The engine and chasis is a total mis match , and the way the car handles at high speed your chance of reaching destination at high speed can be as probable as weather forecast " .
Now after listenening to him , I think he has exxagerated a bit too much . But the face stays true to some degree . He owns an Accent Crdi and an Esteem , may be he was expecting the car to be a great handler . After having a drive in that car myself , I swore to god , I will never ever take her to limits for my own good ! As how the mags has said the kcik in after 1900 -2100 RPM is devastating at least for a 1.5 diesel , but the moment you try her to hustle thruogh corners u seem to think why had they made this car in a hurry ? They should have sorted this out before the launch . It may be a good car for professional drivers who knows exactly where the car is pointing and to what extent she can be taken to . But for an amateur she is a test. ITs something like " THE BOSS " the first batch of shogun , remember ? any one who has tried it will certianily not forget that brutal acceleration atleast for that time .
I feel Mitsubishi should request Hyundai to ship them a batch of 1.5 crdi engines, They should plonk this in a Lancer along with a PSI tuned to 140 bhp and badge is EVO D . For around 9 lacs , there can never ever be such a complete car. lol:
well guys just got my verna crdi .colour red and it looks hot in that .well iam loving this car... just want to keep on driving it.......amazing power .... well will soon write the review.......as for now will enjoy my verna.......
