I feel Mitsubishi should request Hyundai to ship them a batch of 1.5 crdi engines, They should plonk this in a Lancer along with a PSI tuned to 140 bhp and badge is EVO D . For around 9 lacs , there can never ever be such a complete car. lol: |
Well said maxbhp, even i opted out of verna after seeing its shape and finding it not much roomier than accent crdi....however, i am assuming your talking about the Cedia shape??? if yes, then i agree whole heartedly. Also, the same CRDI engine with PSI tweaked to 140ps and 30KGM torque in the body of honda civic:Shockked: ...that would be an even more perfect looking car !!!
For that matter, same Verna CRDI engine specs having Optra body...hmmmm...would be mind boggling
well guys many people have loved the shape of verna......i guess u love it or leave it

GM is coming up with a Diesel Optra, it will have a 2.0L, Common Rail from the Captiva producing 150bhp. Its slated for launch as stated
here.
[quote=maxbhp;328848]This is what my bro-in law had to say about Verna . " It sucks !- this is car can be bought for its engine , nothing else goes in its favour . Its roomy ,yes . But for that I prefer NHC to this any day . The engine and chasis is a total mis match , and the way the car handles at high speed your chance of reaching destination at high speed can be as probable as weather forecast " .
we are planning to buy NHC GXI (VTECH out of Budget but preferred) but reading thru verna reviews , i was tempted . howso ever
1. reading Max's review
2. the fact that Hyundai will never be a Honda
3. my own past experience of owning a Hyundai (Santro)
changed my mind and is making me stick to Honda .
Regards

No , Honda have their own gem 2.2 Ctdi ....Why Honda ......Why are you not giving us a taste of your diesel Technology ? And am not taking about cedia , i dont mind it though but as far as shape is concerned the only perfect 10/10 car from any angle is :
1.Mitsubishi Lancer
2.Ford Mondeo
3.Post 2005 C class

that 2.2 diesel can only go into teh civic or crv and hence making it a costly stuff.
the VTVT and VGT by Hyundai are the only ones that an aam admi can buy. Hyundai is trying to get more business by bringing the latest tech at affordable price. btw, check out Overdrive.
And dnt forget that City is a Jazz with a boot and the idsi Engine is puny at less than 80bhp and hence better at FE, a thing everyone overlooks. If a Hyundai or Suzuki 100bhp can give good FE at low price why cant Honda do the same?

They did JK remember the OHC? Good fuel efficiency despite being 100bhp & having a feisty engine. But it seems Honda has now discovered that if you can give very good FE or atleast create an impression in the customer's mind that the car gives extra-ordinary FE then you get more sales compared to a car which has a nice balance of FE & Power.

I thought NHC was 'Honda Fit Aria' (Honda Fit with boot). Are both Jazz & Fit same?

City VTEC perhaps will be comparable to the Verna CRDi in performance. City IDSI will no way will be nearer to the CRDi.
Please return with your mileage figures you're getting on your car.
yes sir will let u know soon ,as my 1st full tank is not over yet.......
Why we didn't book the verna diesel.
I had the opportunity to test drive the Verna diesel in Bangalore a while ago when we were deciding on a car. I understand that a lot has already been said in this forum. So, my 'review' is going to simply be about my take-aways - and not an exhaustive spec catalogue. I will also try to talk about things not previously covered in this forum, though that it is pretty difficult :-). If this does help, even a little, someone who is making up his / her mind, well then, mission accomplished.
Appearance:
On print it never looked good to me. But I guess that the aerodynamic look could grow on me. What makes this entirely possible is the performance. More on that later.
Interiors, features:
It's spacious but retains that one niggling feature over from the Accent - a very small glove compartment that nevertheless manages to protrude on to the front passenger leg space. However, stretchability in both front and rear are quite good. I did feel however that fitting in a fifth person, or the third rear seat passenger wouldn't really be very comfortable thanks to the central arm rest at the back. I'm not really a fan of this feature . I don't believe it came with climate control though I was hoping that in keeping with Hyundai's 'more bang for buck' philosophy, this would have been introduced in all models.
Performance:
Here is where all the 'bang for buck' went. Under the hood. This is what loads of torque feels like. Smooth pull aways from stop. Minimal gear changes when slowing down in traffic or accelerating away once again. Effortless gear changes when you have to. I found the clutch utlra light compared to my Accent. But the delight factor for me was that I absolutely didn't have to over-use the clutch to get those perfectly smooth shifts, or to avoid knocking. The broad power band absolutely minimises clutch use without the vaguest threat of knocking. You can take your leg off the accelerator completely and then simply push right back on without any jerking whatsoever. In fact, I would go so far as to say this baby feels like an automatic.
ABS or lack of it:
I once had a salesman say to me that you need ABS only when you're going at 120 or above. (It was an Octavia salesman, if you must know.) I refrained from laughing out right at him then. Fact of the matter is that I am used to the ABS on my Accent and think it's an absolute must on any car. It doesn't matter the least bit that you won't use it for highway duty. And apparently Vernas will have ABS available only post April 07. And the salesperson informed me that you cannot buy a Verna now and then ask the dealer/factory to add this option either. This is a real pity.
Ride, handling:
I didn't throw it at corners to see if handled well, but I believe it's adequate. My peev is more directed at the ride. This to me is a total deal breaker. We *did not* pick up the Verna for exactly this reason. It *cannot* soak up the dips, bumps, craters and other topographical anomalies of Bangalore roads. I was quite oblivious to this fact when I was driving, but when I rode in the back, that's all I could think about - why did it feel like an amusement park ride, or worse like a small plane had hit an airpocket every time the road threw a dip. The fact is that Bangalore's roads aren't going to smarten up any time. And I want a car that big and expensive to give me a superior quality of ride. I would honestly recommend to anyone interested in this vehicle to sit in the rear seat while you travel over modestly bumpy roads. By this I don't mean that the tarmac has to be broken and potholed. Just go over some lumpy bits, that's all, you'll see what I mean.
When the test drive was over and I stepped out, the shape and the flowing lines appealed a hell of a lot more to me, though still not in the beautiful league by far. And I give full credit to the phenomenal 4 pot crdi. If only this rode atleast as well as my Accent, if not like the Optra...
