re: Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 GX ownership review. EDIT: 10,000 km service done

A very detailed write up over there, PrideRed. Thanks for sharing.

Given the immense comfort, reliability and fuss free ownership experience that one associates a Toyota car with; your decision of inducting a second Innova into the family is commendable. Yes, the previous iterations of the Innova were everything but lacked in electronic gizmos and came with an interior set up which a few may not find appealing. The Crysta takes care of these shortcomings whilst retaining its original DNA (or still better) in terms of ride quality, space and comfort.

I believe these ones are normal halogen lamps and not projectors. Please confirm.

The previous gen Innova when launched in 2005 had good looking rich interiors, however competition caught up and by 2015 they started to look dated. That's why I said the interiors, feature list get outdated much faster than the mechanical's. And yes I intended to mention NON-projectors as GX variant comes with regular Halogens.

re: Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 GX ownership review. EDIT: 10,000 km service done

My steed is inching towards 10K and an upcoming trip should see it doing 10K. The Car is running fine without any issue. I recently replaced my existing car duster with a Jopasu and has been quite handy given that Crysta is long. Once it hits 10K I plan to get it serviced at Nandi Toyota near Graphite.
I still contemplating if to use 5th tire while rotation.

I've real issues to reach every part of the car while cleaning it. It's double as time consuming to wash the crysta when compared to the Etios.

A snap of my last wash. :-)

You should of course be rotating the 5th tyre. What's preventing you from doing that?

True that Innova is long and washing takes time. But now after washing 2 other XL size cars, I am not amused by crysta. The duster comes in handy only during summer and washing roof during rainy season is bit of pain.
My car is closing 10k and I missed to rotate 5th tire during 5k alignment. I am researching on how car would behave with 3 tires that have done 10k Vs 1 brand new tire.

re: Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 GX ownership review. EDIT: 10,000 km service done

Completed a 1000KM drive to Kodaikanal/Madurai over the long weekend and Crysta did the best what it is famed for-" Munch miles". We were 5 +kid on board and lot of luggage!. I got 17.4KM/l until Batalgundu and after climbing Kodaikanal and driving quite a bit in hilly town the average dropped to 14.8KM/L . Note that my hotel was at a peak and road was super steep.
On return Crysta gave an average of 13.8KM/l- thanks to 120KM drive in Kodaikanal and heavy traffic from Dharmapuri to home.
The ODO now stands at 99xx and is due for first oil change. Plan to get the car serviced this week.

Issues faced: None

re: Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 GX ownership review. EDIT: 10,000 km service done

Completed 10K service at Nandi Toyota Whitefield. Took a service appointment using Toyota App by selecting the dealer as Nandi Toyota. A request was placed and got a confirmation call from Nandi Toyota. Dropped car at 9:00AM and took delivery back at 5PM.
Total cost incurred: 2884
Breakup: 21xx Oil
Oil Filter: 3xx
Gasket: 4x
Wash fluid: 4X

Issues faced: Gearbox was a bit notchy, particularly while shifting to 1st and 2nd during cold starts. I was told by technician that Toyota is aware and working on the issue. For now they have lubricated(don't know what) but seem to be effective.

Service is excellent and loving the Toyota App. This is my 3rd service at Nandi Toyota and they are excellent so far. Given that water wash is banned, wash was just good but not excellent.

Cherry on the cake was they handed over me a 5g Silver coin as they were celebrating their 1st year anniversary.

Overall experience: 5/5

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 GX ownership review. EDIT: 10,000 km service done

Bought Fiio RM1 bluetooth remote controller for my Crysta. It comes with a handy steering holder and is of decent quality. It supports, Next/previous track, volume up/down and pause function. I read somewhere that it can receive and reject calls, but I could not do so yet.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 GX ownership review. EDIT: 10,000 km service done

The remote controller is working quite well but can be only used to change tracks and volume up/down. Looks like Galaxy S7 doesnot support receive/reject calls. Initially i used the steering holder, but now have pasted it to conventional position using double tape. Only problem is once the battery dies out, I have to redo.

Got wheel alignment, balancing and rotation done. Noticed this while doing alignment. Not sure what does FC and RA stand for.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 GX ownership review. EDIT: 10,000 km service done

Back from a 2 day trip to Tirupati. Onward journey returned a fuel efficiency of 18.8 KMPL as per MID. Return journey included super heavy traffic and mostly drove in PWR mode. Reached Bangalore and tanked to brim at Shell. Innova sipped 36.6 lts while it covered 604KM's. 16.5KMPL!! -impressive figures for 2.4L 145HP 7 seater. Note this drive included 50 KM drive in ghat to Tirumala and about 30KM inside Tirupati city as well.

These are Fender Aprons to partly segregate engine bay from splashes from the wheels.

FC = Front Cover (Front Side)
RA = Rear Apron (Rear Side)

They are present in pairs on either side for engine bay and wheel well segregation.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 GX ownership review. EDIT: 10,000 km service done

Bought a Jopasu duster and my washing duty is now scheduled bi weekly. Crysta is large vehicle and washing consumes time. That said other than washing the roof, I feel its far more easier than say Ecosport. There were a lot of cuts/creases, difficult to reach area, black cladding in Ecosport and it wasn't easy. Crysta on other hand has simpler body panels and does not need as much effort.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta 2.4 GX ownership review. EDIT: 10,000 km service done

Got steering wheel, Door pads and Arm rest covered in leather from Devraj/Ovion. Fitting looks nice and steering now offers a lot of grip. Initially thought of going in for some fancy color like brown in Z variant, but I like all black interiors and went with black leather with silver thread stitching.

Note: Steering wheel work was done by Devraj and Door trims/armrest was done at Ovion.
