Swift Diesel Ownership Review after 600 KM

@mobike: The other diesel that I'd driven was the Indigo LS - it was also a demo car, but I forgot the odo reading on that one. To be honest, the moment I turned the ignition and felt the grunt in the cabin, I lost interest in the test drive. That coupled with the rubbery feel to the gear shift. Having said that I still think that the comfort levels make the Indigo a very decent and practical car if you are being driven around.

Guys, can someone tell me whether Swift Ldi is equipped with low fuel warning light?

I guess it is not coz when I took delivery of my car, filled in diesel for Rs. 500(16 lts) and did about 300 kms and the needle fell below the E mark, but the light did not glow even once. Either very good mileage or it is not equipped with the low fuel warning light.

I doubt the LDi is equipped with a low fuel warning light. I'm not so sure the VDi has it even cos there was no light on when I took delivery of the car and the fuel needle was stuck at 'E'.

As for the mileage, it is very good and don't be surprised if she returns 15-17 kmpl on an average. I had 15.5 on my first full tank. Hopefully that will go up now after the first service.

Hmmm, in terms of performance Swift D is way ahead of Indigo TDI. I perfectly agree with you regarding the NVH and the rubbery feel of the gearshift, i drive one of my friends indigo tdi regularly. I think Indigo was made only with one thing on mind- Space

which is available in abundance in that car and almost nothing on other parameters.

I drove the Swift D for the first time yesterday, Wow !!! It drives like a dream, you can feel the Turbo kicking in after 60kph at 3rd gear !!! I drove the Swift petrol a couple of months back but this was far far better. One of the best diesels around. I personally do not like MUL ( I am a Hyundai fan ) but this car is great. My next buy definetely.

I guess MUL feels that even below 'E' the swift will get you to the station comfortably, so no need for 'low fuel' warning light. How many litres is the fuel tank of diesel swift?

I can live without the warning lamp: that's what the gauge is for!

A minimum of 5 litres and a maximum of 8 litres is considered as reserved depending on the type of car ( hatchback or sedan) and this is what you can safely assume will be available when your needle hits the "E" mark

i still wonder why people would want to drive around with fuel guage at E mark (unless in an unforeseen circumstance), you will land up with all the muck,rust and water (if any) going into the fuel line.

I totally agree buddy infact on close observation i found there is the slot for it without any bulb, guess the Petrols do come with a Low Fuel Warning Lamp, heck no guess i am sure they do

Yesterday I test drove the Swift Diesel VDi at Mandovi,Lavelle road, Suparb car , great pick up. The car didnt had " demo car" sticker and thought that it was some ones car which had come for servicing. Their answer of MDs daughter was using earlier was not convincing.
But the draw back is 7months waiting period & I think by that time diesel hatch backs will be flooded in the market.
Decided to buy Either verna or SX4 instead of Swift diesel.
