IIRC the boot space order was this:
Palio > WagonR > Indica > Santro > Estilo >Spark

And i have personally seen the boot of Palio, its quite decent. Hence surprised at Uttam's comment.

The boot space of the Getz is bigger in volume and can hold more luggage than the Palio (as a personal experience). I wonder why Autocar did not consider it in the comparo. And I believe the Indica has a bigger boot than the WagonR but I am not sure!

hmm.. no its not. I own a wagonR and i can vouch for its boot space. Once transported a 29inch TV. Ofcourse with the rear seats folded (but not completely).

Anyways, Santro is Autocar's favourite car, so had they included Getz 1.1 , who would they declare the winner then? Both share the same engine.

Moral, I remember driving the old Siena Weekender (pre-face lift version) a couple of years back. That one had a tacho and the background was black.Which means even the Siena 1.7TD and 1580CC petrol engined Sienas also should have had a similar set-up.I could be wrong though.
Did the Palio 1.9D come with a similar setting?Or was it the same as the Palio 1.6?

With a wagonr, as it's a tallboy had a tendency to throw you around while cornering, that is virtually missing in this car. The suspension is a lot stiffer as well (that along with the fact that the car has 14 inch wheels) results in a far smoother drive.

Interiors.... well the car doesn't have that much headroom, but a lot more side space. 3 people would be far comfier in the back here (i haven't tried it as yet - the seats just seem larger). THe boot space is virtually non-existant in this car LOL!
And, the magazine guys says palio has the biggest boot! Anyways, boot space doesnt matter for me. Mileage is a problem, but i guess that is something to be accepted when trading in for performance.

That was a nice reply. Why i asked is that, in the back of my mind, am also looking forward to this exchange. Cant buy a sedan cause of lack of parking space at home. So, the next best options are Swift, and Palio1.6.

Have to wait till July to decide whether to go in for that or not.

Some more pics, please. And the night interior pics looked awesome. All the colours and lights make it look much more upmarket.

@ DCEite: May be cause of the parcel shelf. Vertical loading may not be possible as in the WagonR.

I once transported 6 dining chairs and a person on my wagonR with the rear seats down. But I couldnt accomodate 2 boxes of tubelights due the the limitations of the width.

Hey,

You know, i test drove the swift as well - i didn't buy it for a couple of reasons - at the end of the day it's still a maruti (i know a lot of people on the forum may wanna kill me for that statement) - and i've been driving a maruti all my life... a change is always welcome!

With the swift - i didn't notice too much of a difference in the driving experience from a wagonR - sure there's a lil more power, but the steering, brakes etc just feel the same... and guys, for the same price - just put the two cars specs down head to head - the palio 1.6 wins by a mile.

More pics - here you go

Btw - i noticed the first scratch last night - some loser would've made it when it was parked - looks n feels like a surface scratch and not too big. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it??

If its a small scratch then you can wait till the first service and ask them to use some rubbing compund on it and do a little bit of buffing

More news:
I went to shaman today and saw that the test drive 1.6 DOES HAVE leather wrapped steering and gearknob.

Idiots have gone n given me the gearknob and steering of the SLX *please excuse my disgust*

So now they're gonna change those 2 - lets see how long they take!!

The 3 woes of fiat begin 3 days after delivery!!

Also had to refuel the car as i drove 335 km (in bombay) over 3 days - insane driving - but the car's too much fun!!

I got an average of 8.6 in the car - taking revs up to 3000. I believe mileage does increase after the first service.
