I kind of like the way the Fabia looks. But, the beige interiors are um..
Do all the variants come with ABS and airbags? The power (or the lack of it) is something that instantly puts me off. Now, if Skoda plonks in the amazing 1.9TDi..
Even though I love all things Skoda, the pricing seems way off!

All variants come with Air Bags. The Ambiente and Elegance version come with ABS.

Now, now boys, let's not go too far here ok? To 'hatch' kids, Ashok has to first find a girl in Hyderabad, so until that is done there is going to be no 'hatching', ok?

Nice report Zak.

I believe the car would be a success. Skoda anyway would not be looking at SwiftD volumes. But they'll surely create a niche hatch segment. In a way it's good for the Punto and the Jazz. The Fabia will have created a segment for premium hatches which they can then tap into.

Having said that 8 OTR may be a tad too high to generate good volumes. Heck it'll come in direct competition with the NHC for brand conscious customers.

The front tweeter position is also good. I hope there's enough place in to fit better ones in correct positioning. It'll have a good soundstage with the music pouring in from the windscreen.
Oi, now I'm fully awake. I can see one speaker location near the hip back of front door, the other near the door handle and the tweeter position near the A-pillar.

Zakko, you also have some coffee and see properly. lol.

you missed to take the front snap Zak. neways everybody know how it looks. 2L booking price is pure fraud. Looks like the dealer is also smoking the same weed as skoda. It sure wont have volumes like VDi but ppl would still go for it for a brand and snob.

IMO, the amount of goodies offered and the projector headlights will force other manufacturers to up their offerings too. Maybe Maruti will upgrade the Swift ZXI with projectors :-). But any frontal collision which damages the headlights will be prohibitively costly!

Frankly speaking, I'm actually tempted. This would probably be the only 7-8L car that could manage to get into (fit into) my garage/driveway.
Fusion is an option. 7lac OTR, emm, isnt that costly now that Fabia comes with lot of goodies!

Nice review Zak, but I can't get over the Swiftish look, never liked the Swift look, and this reminds me of Swift way too much. At 2L+ over Swift, it simply makes no sense. Remember what happened to Fusion when they came out in the same price range. An excellent crossover went to dogs because of bad pricing. It is nice to see luxury features in a hatch, but they should have done what Maruti did with SX4, shake the market by providing luxury features at normal price.
Even a petefied Fusion would have almost the same specs of a petefied Fabia.

edit; just saw Busa's post.

Hydra is gonna marry soon and buy a hatch and then hatch kids and then ICE it.

The following is the clip from the Skoda Fabia India brochure they put out a day or two ago. They pulled this brochure out of the web page now.

Here are the technical specs of the two engines they are offering in all varients (Classic, Ambiente, Elegance).

Note that they are using the same names for both engine specs as well as the interior/exterior specs.

Classic - Diesel version
Ambiente - Petrol version

Thanks JK and Skmami

I gather its a 1.4L engine with 85bhp.

The 69 Bhp diesel and 85 bhp petrol combination reminds me of the Fiesta 1.4 twins!

Assuming its priced near 7L on road, Unless either FTD (a la Swift) or decently frugal (12+), i expect the Petrol version to flop. It just might go the Octavia 2.0 way.

Can someone tell what are these for? I assumed it to be the tweeter fence.
