Mileage update @ 20600, Yup haven't done much just routine office - home runs as my bike was asking some attention car has to stay idle.

21 kmpl (tankful -tankful cutoff method) office commute only with occasional a/c.
Consumed 23.34 ltrs for 490 kms.

Service Update. The blacky celebrated her two year birthday a week back and the routine service was done @23061 kms.Summary as below.
Assy Air Cleaner (was clogged) -- 240.39
Wash Fluid -- 51.78
Oil Filter -- 334.42
Engine oil (5W30) -- 850.26
Labour -- 759.50
Misc Charge -- 90.00
-------------------------------------------
Total with tax+rounding -- 2600.00

Upgrades :
Headlamps changed to 100/130 Philips ,now happy with night riding.

Wow!! you diesel's Ikon service cost is less than mine petrol Ikon. My 2 year birthday service cost me 3150/- . Amazing that your service cost is less.

About the headlight upgrade, I also upgraded to 90/100 bulb from stock a year back, was happy with the light but lately have been observing that it is not what it was at the start. How much did the bulb cost?
I also installed the relay for safety, though I was told that for 90/100 it is not required.

Fordmanchau, doesnt 'our' version of IKON come with a sealed, plugin type headlights?. and to install relay, didn't you have to make holes in the HL Assy?.

There was a typo in my previous post, @20361 km to be read as @23061 km

@gemi, This was done by an installer who is a friend of my friend .

@dhanushs , The bulbs are Philips rally ,450 rs a pair and was installed with TVS lucas relay and ceramic holders ,this is plug and play ,the relay plugs into one of the holders of the OE headlamp ,Battery input also needed i guess, no wire cutting required.
But the plastic cap has to be cut (one used to change headlamps) to route the ceramic holders.
TDCi takes in 3.8 liters of Oil.

@Fordmanchau ,this time it was bit expensive as i changed the air filter also .May be Lower service cost can be attributed to success of Figo as well. My installer told that relay is mandatory for any upgrades from OE.

Well, that's why I didn't want to install a relay. I heard that when the plastic cap (which is sealed and airtight), is cut, there is chance of water vapor fogging the HL's during rainy seasons?.

Did you face something similar?

Correct, IMO, as far as I remember, the installer did make a hole for the cables.

Probably you are right that the success of figo has lowered the cost of ownership for diesel vehicle atleast.

No idea .This was done last week. I'll update on the progress.Also I 'm curious on the heat effect of these bulbs.

The swift comes with fiber HL shield. It fades on 100/130 Philips' heat. I believe the new IKON also comes with a fiber shield, but of higher quality. So it should not be a problem.

Would love to know the updates though..

Sorry to see this bullboy. From the pictures it seems to me that both the wiring and the heat from the 100/130 tubes are a cause of the problem. The reflector has gotten damaged due to the heat and wiring seems inadequate for the current draw, also there might be a loose connection leading to arching.

Just to be safer i would suggest you stick to 90/100 tubes. Thats the most common setup used on Ikon after upgrade. I have also been using the same on my ikon for 5+ yrs now without issues. Though not outstanding but it provides reasonable illumination. I am normally hesitant with messing around the electrical systems of the car due to the implications if something goes wrong. Unless ofcourse you have a very experienced electrician making changes.

The damaged seems to be caused by the heat from 100W low beam filament, so I'm not sure how 90/100w will scale.

Hmm... Sorry to hear this, the new Ikon HL's too seem to be of poor quality.

Coming to the topic, you can safety use 90/100 bulbs. I know of numerous Swifts, which couldn't handle 130's running the 90/100 safely.

I use it in my ikon, even without a replay for about a year now.
