Checked with SA during last service regarding moving to Synthetic Oil. They use Idemitsu Synthetics (he didnt have idea on the grade) and recommended drain interval is 10K kms. (no mention of period)

Given low running it makes sense to stick to mineral oil.

SA told me they would drain it for every service - that just doesn't make any sense and i dont want to spend 2100 every quarter for that. But he was a new guy - they roped him in from Nandi Toyota 3 weeks back.

I would probably check with the Service Manager on what he recommends.

Thanks for your input.

i tried using a IPOD Shuffle in my car, but it reads a message saying OLD VERSION.

Would you please suggest which IPOD model i should use?

I primarily use the 1st gen Nano. So far i have tried the 1st gen Nano, my wife's iPhone (1st gen) a 4th gen Classic, a Tsonic 610 and 2GB/8GB USB sticks - all works. But the 1st gen classic (20GB one) gave me an old version message that you mentioned.

I guess the manual has a page on which models work - you might want to look it up.

As an experiment - i tried driving driving in FE revband (2000-3500 rpm area) and under 100 km, and switching off engine at long traffic signals for two weeks and is plesantly surprised by city FE = 12.4 kmpl with 100% AC. Almost a 1 kmpl difference from my usual fare.

That said i am now back to my revv happy nature. Whats the whole point in having a Vtec if you don't listen to Vtec music?

Speakers are decent, audiophiles may look elsewhere.
Skywalker, had a question on the ICE in ANHC. Especially iPOD connectivity. Do you connect the iPOD using Aux in or USB?

If Aux-In, basically the stereo controls like Forward to next song - its not possible. Correct?

If USB cable to connect to Car ICE, does the charging of ipod also happens using the same? And the stereo controls on the wheel, can it do forward and reverse?

Contemplating to buy a 8GB USB stick if Honda ICE cannot be used to control iPOD.

I used a 2nd gen Nano and a 4 GB USB stick (and occasionally an iPhone). Use the USB cable to connect the pod and that's what i would recommend. I never tried aux_in, in fact i don't even know if there's an aux-in.

With USB you can use the menu - like album view, playlist view and use the steering wheel controls to skip tracks (i believe that's what you mean by forward & reverse - and not ff).

Do keep in mind that some older pods (especially 1st gen) aren't compatible with ANHC. Anything bought after 2005 should work, i guess.

Yes, it does charge while you use it - in fact my wife uses that trick to charge her iPhone while out on long drives. Listen to music and charge your phone at the same time

Wow, that's great news, when I did test drive about an year back, my 5th Gen iPod (bought when launched in Oct'06) was not charging and I asked the salesman about it and he didn't had a clue about it.

I will check it again the first thing when I will get my beauty next week.

Dont have the time to read through the entire thread now to check the details but you've got the 4th service at 7755 km? Im assuming 1st service at 1 month/1000 km, 2nd at six months/5000 km and 3rd at 1 year/10000 km so just a little curious how its the fourth service now :S

Which synthetic oil did you use btw? Isnt it recommended to switch to synthetic after 10k or 20k kms though?

Well, 2nd ones at 5K Kms, +3 months and so on.

About synthetic, Honda uses an OEM brand, didn't check which one. TBHP recommends synthetic after 10 K Kms, i moved since the engine has run in well and its getting close to an year.

Oh ok. 3 months is the honda recommended interval for service? I thought all new cars had 6 months?

How does the car feel with synthetic oil btw?

Hey Skywalker,

It seems off late you are clocking lesser number of miles. Mine is already past 14000+ in 8 months.

i also got all my 3 free services done in first 6 months itself.
i will know about real Honda experience once i go for the next service wich is a paid service.

@StarVega : Yep, my daily run is less. For the record, my 7.5 year old Palio has clocked less than 36K Kms, so this one's better than usual.

This time it was a paid, and apart from the additional 1000 odd bucks for the paid service, no changes in the attitude. Hope yours is unchanged too
