I am tempted to buy the new Punto 1.4 petrol when its released as I prefer the quiet smoothness of petrol over the 90 HP diesel.

Are there still some owners around here who can report their mileage, performance & maintenance over their ownership?

To add I have a 2009 1.4 emotion pack punto. I have got a max of 11 in city averaging 9-10.
On highways never more than 14kmpl.

In city FE depends a lot on kind of traffic you drive in. Also, I rarely drive in city and when I do, my FE varies between 12-16 (as shown by the MID, actual will be a bit less). But then I avoid bumper to bumper traffic conditions.

On highway, during my recent trip, I got an FE ranging between 12-16 (measured from tank full to tank full). This was on roads mostly wide two lane, a/c being on most of time & speeds of over mostly 100. Also, drove in forest for some time, mostly in 1st-3rd gears, at slow speeds (when I got FE of around 12).

As my running is kind of low, I get the car serviced once a year. Last service, the bill was around 8k. In a month's time my 5yrs will be completing and will be getting it serviced again.

@nav75 too:

Thanks for your inputs, I am more inclined now to go for the new Punto 1.4 petrol when its released.

One more question, how is the power/pull when you take it up on hills or when overtaking on highways? Is it sufficient & comparable to Diesel Punto 90HP?

90HP got more torque and as expected, it pulls better than 1.4.
1.4, you got to keep it above 3k revs and it might require you to downshift, while might not be the case with 90HP.
This is based on a small test drive of 90HP.

Re: Punto, in mera wala Red (1.4 Petrol Emotion Pack)

My folks have a 2010 1.4 Punto. The car is used only in the city and has done just about 13k km in 4 years !! The car has held up brilliantly though and it still feels new on the inside. No issues have been faced and service in Mysore has been pretty good. Recently we got the elastic pads changed under extended warranty (I don't think any other OEM covers suspension in extended warranty).

Mileage has been around the 11 - 12 range in the city. This is in Mysore, so not much traffic, but distances are small as well. Power wise, I feel its the gearbox that lets the car down. She moves, but you have to keep the revs high otherwise it does feel a little sluggish. I've noticed the AC bogs the car down quite a bit (factory fitted AC - we did not go in for the upgrade Fiat was offering).

I think the 90Hp diesel will be faster than the 1.4, but the petrol should be more involving with the free revving engine and super engine note !

Good to see some activity here. It was nice meeting this red beauty couple of months ago at our FIAT FNG. This hasn’t aged much in terms of pure looks!

It is always a treat to see a Punto.

I wanted to ask about a good and reliable Fiat Service station in Pune. I have a Linea and am not happy with the authorized service centres. I have clocked more than 90,000 kms in 10 years.

I have been going to Wings Auto Care on Mumbai-Pune Bypass, near Pashan Lake. Following is their location.

Re: Punto, in mera wala Red (1.4 Petrol Emotion Pack)

Another attempt to try and be more active online.

Update on Punto is that car has recently completed 15 years, so I got the registration renewed.
In just over 15 years, have managed to cover just over 57,000kms. At the time of buying the car, I knew that my running will be less but it has turned out to be even less running than I expected, as I rarely commute and car usage is mostly when I am going out with family.

During this period, as the running is less, I only had to do regular servicing.
Other than that:
- Recently (like couple of years back), I upgraded the suspension to one that slightly increases the GC.
- Currently on 3rd battery and on 3rd set of tyres. Though the previous two sets didn't wear out but they have aged and hence changed them.

A picture clicked during family drive (May-24) from Pune - Mahabaleshwar - Poladpur - Kumbhe - Tamhini - Pune with family.

Re: Punto, in mera wala Red (1.4 Petrol Emotion Pack)

The Grande Punto, specially in that red colour is one of the prettiest cars to hit Indian roads. My regards to you on owning this car and maintaining it for 15 years. I own and daily drive an Abarth Punto and still a red Grande Punto turns my head. Always heartwarming to see such cars being used for 15+ years. I wish to maintain and drive my Abarth for a long long time and such ownership threads provide motivation.
