Punto, in mera wala Red (1.4 Petrol Emotion Pack)

Posting after a long time but was always checking out the forum at times.

First I would like to thank GTO for his review on the Punto. Also to Kedar(Techno) for helping me at different stages during the process of getting the car and to those people who are also present here (I might not be aware of who all), but helped me at other place.

On Fri, 24th July, I got the delivery of my 1.4L Petrol Emotion Pack, Red color Punto. My experience with BU Bhandari (Pune) was satisfactory but the experience with the sales person was really good.

With no registration number, my plans of doing some serious driving on the weekend were spoiled. Still I managed to do some highway + city driving.

I took my own time to go over the manual as there are simply too many controls/functions to be enjoyed in the car.

Sunday noon went out with family to fill up fuel and then a small drive on highway. Resetted the trip meter after filling up and on a ~30km drive on highway with speeds around 80 and lesser, the real time mileage indicator showed 17.8, with a/c on all the time.

Yesterday morning came to office, with a couple of reversing, stopping twice for crossing road and once at building security check and driving in mild traffic, with a/c on, got a mileage of 13.2.

So, I'm more than happy with the mileage. Something that I was warned
by a few people when I decided to consider Fiat in general and Punto in particular.

Since, I didn't push the car but my couple of friends (Swift Desire and i10 owners) did, they were not dissapointed by the performance. So nothing on performance from my side for some more time.

The car has just too many features and they all to me are very useful.
- Auto climate control (no fogging up of glass - that my friend's 1.2 suffered and he had to play with controls to get rid of it),
- Music controls on steering wheel (I don't need to get my eyes/attention off road to change track/adjust volume),
- Lots of warning signs (door not closed properly, seat belt, etc),
- Lock all the rear door controls by press of a button. My daughter was very excited and trying to play with rear power window controls.
- Brilliant suspension. Went over broken roads (I have to slow down here even on bike) at around 35ish and both the kids sleeping on rear seat didn't felt it as they continued to be in sleep.
- Car at 80 on highway with some crosswind, felt like going at 40.

- Having used most of cars with light controls on right side of steering wheel and wiper controls on left, it is taking some time to get used to their positions in oppside in Punto.
- Found the LET to be a bit down at lower revs, I guess around 1.5k rpm, specially in higher gears.
- The 1st gear is a bit short.
All in all, very happy with the purchase I made by following my heart. Yeah, the mind was telling me to go for something else.

Here are a few pictures of the car.

Congrats,
Another Punto but in Petrol Version.
I think yours is the first Punto Petrol in T-bhp.
My Brother is also searching for a hatchback either in Diesel or Petrol(if it gives a good mileage)
He is very keen in Punto.
if the mileage you have got is sufficient.
Highway > 18kmpl with 100% AC
City > 12 kmpl with 100% AC
if the above return is well and good.

Enjoy and Drive Safely

I forgot to mention one thing, the mileage figure could be due to my driving style. I rarely un-necessary rev the engine.

The OEM music system is from Blaupunkt. It is performing satisfactory for the kind of music I listen. But in comparison to what you can get fitted on your own, there isn't a comparison, more so at louder volume. I checked it with the system my friend has fitted on his 1.2.
I paid 6.21L (PCMC).

The mileage figure is surely due to my driving style. I rarely un-necessary rev the engine and on highway it was "slow" speeds of around 80.

Red was my top priority, specially after having maintained 4 black color bikes. Didn't want another black color vehicle and my 5th bike in red color + a Fiat made the choice simpler.
Haven't decided on anything for ICE, not in near future.

I'm carrying helmet in car so that when needed I can ride my bike. Without having to go home/office desk to fetch the helmet.
I kept the helmet in boot to click the picture to give an idea about the boot space.

I was promised delivery on Monday, but since my friend got his car n friday (as he paid money a few days before me), the sales guy arranged the delivery of my car also on fri but the RTO registration took one extra day. Got the number yesterday.
It is a family car, not one for racing. I prefer motorcycle for racing over car.

Congrats, I guess it's the first 1.4 petrol Punto in the forum, looks very good in red.
I think the 1.4 petrol would be the most fun to drive in the Punto range.
