I had feelings like these every time a bike or an auto came close to my car during the first couple of days. Some Eno might help? lol

Unni, Gilead - I am clueless on the pollen filter details. I never knew if the removed or still exists. I just told them the problem. thankfully its Fixed and I am really satisfied at the moment about it.

Another complaints which I had for my 1st service was there were cranky noises. - the small kirr kirr type things which irritate the driver.
on diagnosis with the ford rep he identified that there were 3 different noises (Not that it sounded like a bucket full of steel utensils )

one was from the music system fitted unit
second was from the driver side door fibre panel.
third was coming from behind which he identified as the hand brake cable.

He fixed it and I drove home in peace. (no kirr kirr)

But I had gone on a long drive to country side after the servicing (maybe I should have done the servicing after I was back) The noises came back not that prominently but the do come up when the car is on a rougher patch or is tilted due to uneven surface or at soem turns.

When I got a call from the service center for feedback- I did appraise them about the noises coming back. They have asked me to drop by to get them fixed. I hope I get time this saturday to have this checked.

Lastly the underbelly scratch to the fiesta. I just have one such experience. it really got me worried as I was no where near a large city.

Well, thanks to the Chennai weather I do not have the luxury of rolling down my windows, infact for the past 7 months I have lowered my windows only at Toll Gates and may be a couple of times to let the hot air out. I guess my 160+ speed should have caused this issue. Looks like I was not the only one to be rattled.

[quote=shajufx;1613469]Do you have the habit of lowering the window glass every now and then ? And most importantly do you open and close the doors with the glass down ? If YES, that explains the issue. I read somewhere in the manual not to open and close the doors with glass down as it can misalign the glass which eventually will cause rattles, vibrations etc. I always make sure the glass is fully closed before even the engine is off after a drive, because I know my 3.5 yr old boy (even wifee) will bang the door so hard, even the glass could slip to the floor through the door bottom.

I should say so. but I also keep in mind that these are minor issues and its still a new car. the real service rating would come when some bigger not so easy to identify comes. I dont want to land in such a situation but that would be the real test of the service of ford.

But like you said in short - I am satisfied till date

Trip meter & actual distance traveled is not same

I did long (its not that long though - just 160KM one side) high drive and rest was city driving. So basically it was 40% highway driving & 60% city drive.

Last week when I filled the tank the 'Distance To Empty' reading was showing 114KM, total distance traveled was showing 2008KM and total Diesel filled at that time was 42 Litres.

Today morning
  • The 'Distance To Empty' was showing 111KM,
  • Total distance traveled was 2787KM
  • Trip meter was showing 725KM

In evening while coming home
  • DTE was showing 135KM

Not sure which DTE reading should I consider - 111KM or 135KM ?

Also found difference in reading showed by trip meter & total distance traveled.
  • DTE was showing 725km
  • Total distance traveled (2787 - 2008 = 779km).

Here I think trip meter showing correct reading. So here assuming the total distance traveled is 725km so the average I got is approx 17.26km/l.

Is difference in DTE & total distance traveled is due to 185/65/R14 tyre change?

The above back n forth reading is bit confusing but here what I want to highlight is the difference in reading.

Next week another trip of 400km is scheduled so hope average should increase a bit. Is 17 - 18km/l average is ok or it should cross 20km/l as it include city drive as well.

Starting April, 2010, RTA's in ten cities in India[National Capital Region (Delhi), Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Surat, Kanpur and Agra] are going to register only BS IV complaint engines. So, what that means is that there is going to be a new Fiesta release with a modified or a different engine to pass that certification. There are two possibilities:
a. The overall design of the car may be retained with the change in the engine only.
b. They may introduce the newly designed Fiesta(see point 2 below for more info on that).

2. Ford released a new design of Fiesta in China this March, try searching for 'Ford fiesta 2010' and you will see images of the new Ford Fiesta. The dealers are not sharing much information about whether this model will ever come to India. At present, Ford India is busy with Figo(a hatchback) they are planning to bring-in by Feb, 2010.

3. IMHO, the change in the current version of Fiesta is not going to happen anytime before mid of February, 2010. So, even in Jan, you will still end-up getting the same vehicle, just as your dealer said, perhaps with a prise-rise. If you are planning to wait, kindly wait until mid of March, 2010 to get a definitive idea on Ford's plans.

4. Here is my take on what might happen and how it may/ may not benefit one if one waits for the new Fiesta:
a. If one chooses to buy now, they get a proven vehicle in Indian conditions, the pricing offered for Fiesta is at its best in the current season(there are discounts and benefits of upto Rs 55,000.00 as discussed by you earlier). Infact, as I type this, I received an SMS from my dealer that there is a heavy discount and they are offering upto Rs 75,000.00 discount until Dec 15th starting today.
b. If one waits, and if Ford introduces the new Ford Fiesta 2010 in India, one would get an uber cool car with all modern features, perhaps something missing in the existing models like Auto Climatizer AC, etc. The re-sale value of the existing models will depreciate further if this happens. IMHO, the pricing of the new model will definitely be about 1 lac more than the current models, so what one saves now is what one will lose later. On the other hand, the engine in the new models may/ may not offer as much as the current ones do. [Remember, the day's when Yamaha 2 stroke's were taken off-road and we got all those 4-stroke motorbikes with less power and poise]

All in all, there are pro's and con's either way. And as @nair sir said, do stay away from the dealer for a while as you plan your purchase.
rightly said, but there is one thing which i am not getting,
the ford dealer at lucknow is not very keen on selling the fiesta on coporate and is asking me to book the car soon otherwise i wont get a White SXI premium this month and from next month the price is increasing.

There is an ad by Ford in Mumbai Times of India screaming about 75000 discount on Ford Fiesta Zxi Petrol model for a period 4th Dec to 14th dec 2009 with a small star for the conditions apply thing. The condition says the discount includes Exchange bonus of 10K and Loyalty bonus with 1 yr extended Warranty and is offered by dealers (Does it mean not by Ford??).

Spoke to a Ford Sales person. He asked for an hours time to get back on the detailed split up of the 75K discount flashed in today's papers!

Though he couldn't confirm, this is what he said,
  1. Straight 60K off on the ex-showroom price
  2. Exchange bonus of 10K
  3. Extended warranty for 3rd year as loyalty bonus
The Americans (GM and Ford) are the best in discounts, offers & limited (aka unlimited) editions I should say

The dealer confirmed the same 60k discount for ZXI variant and 35k for SXI, he is asking me to go for ZXI variant because the discounts are too high there and he has a ready stock of that,
but i am sticking to the SXI for which the current corporate discount is 50k and may rise in coming 2 - 3 days,

he also need to check the stock of SXI White availability for the same for which he will confirm me in an hour.

Ford is spoiling us with choices

Wait for the 2-3 days man. Stocks won't clear that soon.

Can you pls elaborate on the corporate discount of 50K? Whom do you work for?

A whopping discount of 75k is applicable to ZXI variant in Karnataka too as advertised in the news papers today. Fine print of terms and conditions is readable only with a magnifying glass though !!

@kumar7

Tripmeter/odometer reading should be always correct.
DTE -its only approximate reading so that one can be sure when refuelling has to be
done. The DTE reading keep changes even on idle position. I have experienced this-
first I switched on the engine DTE shown 286 -swithced off and again switched on after 30minutes (car was on the same position -not moved an inch even), the DTE reading shown as 292 -So which reading is correct.?

Anyway I will aks to check this when the car goes for service.

Thanks

@shajufx

'buy one get one free' !!!

Aha - very sweet to read the lines

SWeet dreams -LOL

What you will lose if you buy Zxi instead of SXi will be :

1-Air bags
2-metallic finish grills
3-chrome radiator grill surround
4-Driver and passenger mirror with chrome scalp
5-Turn indicator on ouside rear view mirror
6-Leather wrapped steering wheel
7-Alloy wheels

If you can live without Airbags, other things as mentioned above all can be fixed as accessories (if needed available from Ford itself). And maximum
expensive item will be the Alloys (around Rs.15/16000 for 4 wheels).
IMO, under Rs.22000, you can get above accessories (new Zxi already coming with leather seats, chrome handle bar etc).

Still you can save around Rs.50000/55000?
