2) Actually NOT At all - just plug and play!!
3) Avbl at all Local towns and automobile markets...
4) Total 1000 (with labor), so assuming 800+ for parts.
Thats a very useful mod. Any idea if this can be fitted to other cars as well such as M800? Actually wanted to add a pair of extra lamps but if this works then it would be great.

Yes it can be fitted to the 800 with ease . I have one installed in mine and the beam even with 90/100"s is awesome.

You just need a competent electrician to fit it all

20000Km Service Done...

Got the 20,000Km Service done. Left the car for service on 3-feb, got it back on 9-feb!!

Delay was due to starter motor replacement (under the recent recall from TATA).

Highlights:
1) Total bill was 1800Rs.
2) Oil 600Rs, petrol filter, oil filter 200Rs
3) LABOR - Oil service 300Rs, general checkup 300Rs, water wash 200Rs (which was as good as crap...!!)
4) 1 headlight bulb 160Rs~ (Philips 100/90) (misc tax made it 1800Rs)

I was made to wait 1hour 30 minutes (930Am to 11Am) under the excuse it was vehicle receiving time so delay was caused in delivery!!

After all this the credit card machine/phone line didnt work!!

Headlight unit was fit wrongly and was fouling with the bonnet!!

Vehicle was covered in 1MM dust and few dried leaves were still stuck in the windscreen beading (it was present when I gave car for service)

This blew my top and after a short verbal fight - the 200Rs for wash was waived off!!

Heavily relieved I at least got the car back, I headed home a SAD customer!!

How the hell can a company charge 800Rs for Labor when the parts itself is only 800Rs!! Is this business concept flawed or what? I said to the GM on his face that for draining 2.25Liters of old oil & refilling new, turning out the oil filter and putting in a new one, pulling out petrol filter and putting a new one - one cannot charge 300Rs!! And another 300 for general checkup which I am sure they didnt do much!! Brakes still suck!

And the wash, nothing to say because it was waived off!

I said to the service manager and GM that I would gladly pick up the parts next time and get the service (oil change + brakes cleaning) done at my roadside jeep mechanic for all less than 200Rs. He didnt comment on that...

Coming Feb24th~ the car completed 2 years... Still a paisa vasool, rough use, cheap to maintain, minor niggles, cheap car.

It's the same every where, not just your A.S.S. So go easy there. Labor is still labor, though the parts in your case cost less.

eg:
I wanted to replace a power window switch for the Ikon recently. Went to A.S.S, and asked. They opened the JC. I had done all the work - so all they had to do was to connect the new switch (old switch was already removed). And push the switch into the slot. No screws, nothing. It takes all of 5 min to open the JC and 5 minutes to get it out from the stores & complete the fitting. The bill ? 130 for labor !! And the part itself on the higher side at almost 600.

But if you are still in warranty, then you will need to go with their service plans.

Re: Tata nano CX - 17,500Kms

Hi Santosh,

Interesting mod and one which I was looking for.
Did you have to cut any wires to fit the relay.
I am averse to cutting any wires and would rather fit better bulbs.
I also feel that the main beam needs to adjusted upwards.
Is this possible in the Nano.
I notice they do not have the headlight leveller control which I thought was a must these days.

Regards,

SS

Re: Tata Nano CX - 20000 Kms

Quick updates

1) Did two chennai trips in mar12, both trips averaged 75-80KmPh and overall 26KmPL of petrol.

2) (Rear) Left drive shaft giving a Dhung-Dang noise - I know its the joint thats gone kaput - getting it changed by warranty (today)

3) Front AC switch control panel - changed on saturday under warranty - was broken and windscreen position wouldnt engage - something was stuck!

After a 2 year lull, my driving needs are going up - so nearly time to say tata to TATA nano - God Willing!! Lets see... fingers xxx!!
