adits : .. when zigwheels reviewed the nano in March 2009, they had parked the nano lengthwise n the space occupied by the width of other Indian car. see this image from their site (Tata Nano First Drive - Reviews- Zigwheels) for yourself.
This pic is very misleading, and I dont think it was to show that you can park the Nano like that - AND not extend beyond the other cars.

Length of the Nano : 3000 mm (approx)
Width of the wider of those two vehicles- the Fortuner : 1840 mm.

Even if we were to leave about 1 feet (approx 305 mm) between the Fortuner & the kerb, the Nano will stick out beyond the Fortuner by 700 mm.

Adits, (Condor).

After seeing Adits pic I actually tried it for the heck of it. Dont worry - I did this at 1130 in the night and in a small service road. This idea is OK only if you risk scrubbing of your front bumper/fenders by the 2 cars beside yours while they reverse...

Yesterday (sunday), I took the car for a 100Km GQ drive just for the speed charecteristic check. It performed easily till 70. Went upto 80 also. 'I' stopped @ 90, engine is still sort of new you see.

Anything beyond 80 is tricky, and while overtaking trucks/buses at 80-90 as you near the air-flow gushing out of the truck's front, the nano feels extremely wobbly or panicky. The steering/wheel size is no good for 80+ speeds if you want a safe drive.

Hard turns (or so it made me feel) at speeds above 80 gave a SUV effect, but in reverse. The suspension did not roll, but the tall body felt like it would topple over. It may not, never, but the feeling was not good, sort of sea-sick!!

------------------------------
Also took the nano to Satya (BlueRaven) for ICE 'analysis'. This was his 1st encounter with a nano. Keep watching this space to see what can be done on a realistic budget inside a nano. Nothing fancy, but nothing very simple like the OE HU+2 speakers also!!

Unfortunately the only way to see the physical qty is to open up the engine cover. Check pics 1,3 in page-3. Coolant tank has min-max levels. Mine is already at low, need to get it topped. Oil level can be checked using the dip stick. Its a yellow ring next to the yellow oil filler cap. I did not bother to pull it out the last time.

Hi SVSantosh, first of all, Thanks a lot for the Excellent Pics

Nano has its Spare Wheel in the Front Compartment and in Vertical Position as opposed to all other cars having it in Horizontal position, Do you feel any knid of vibrations/noise because of that,
Also, i see that it touches what seems to be the AC piping, hope it does not messes around with the same over a period of time.

The other thing is that it might not be possible for all to check various Oil levels periodically as it requires opening of the Rear Parcel Shelf which might be cumbersome.

- Nope, none at all.
-- Yes, I also indicated the underbody's achilles heel is this AC plumbing.

Gopi, We just have to trust the odo-meters to indicate anything in case of a leak/overheating. Else, spend 10 minutes MAX, every weekend to do what I did in pg3.

I did that in the weekend, Thanks. Car is due for 1st Service, getting very less mileage of 13 kmpl with 50% AC in city condition, not a good sign with this small engine, expected atleast 16-18. With my SX4 I manage to get 10-11 kmpl. My father bought this car and not happy at all, have lot of Cons than Pros.

how much you are getting.

From what I have learnt(from a nano owner) it stays below 15kmpl before the 1st service.

yeah it would improve significantly. My Nano was giving round about the same mileage but after the first service its giving ~18 with 100% AC on, which is damn good!

PS: The car has its cons but its pros surely outnumber them, atleast for me. Nano brings a smile to my face and hundreds of people who's eyes gleam at the sight of it.

Hi,

My friend's Nano disappointed him with a AC mileage of 13.5 kpl in city conditions. He also was suggested to wait for at least first service.

But his highway runs have given him 18.2 and 19.3 kpl with AC on throughout.
