This is Honda... ( Honda City V-MT )

Hi Guys
After lots of research and juggling between Corolla Altis and Honda City, I finally bought the City V-MT on 17th March-10.
I know that i have always been a staunch supporter of VFM pricing for cars and have criticized Honda for being stingy. However i must admit that i succumbed to the temptation of buying a Honda for the following reason

1. Looks young and energetic compared to Altis
2. Service centre in Faridabad
3. Got more or less everything except a ACC for about 3 lacs less compared to Altis.

Details off the car
Honda City V-MT - White
On Road Price 9.25 after 15K corporate discount

Freebies given
1. Body Cover
2. Pillows -2 nos
3. Divinity
4. Transparent matting
5. Gear Lock

Accessories installed
1. Paint protection Rs 7100
2. Side beading on doors Rs 5500
3. Side step garnish illuminated Rs 9100
4. Sunfilm VKool 40 Economy on sides and 3M CR-70 front Rs 12000
5. Dashboard lighting Original Honda worth Rs 17000

Total cost after discount on accessories Rs 975700/-

Initial experience
The car is an absolute delight, smooth and silent.Feels like a nice upgrade from the Wagon-R.The mileage indicator shows 10.4kmpl for the 114 Km's that i have driven.Since the car is in run-in period i have not revved past 2500 rpm in any gear and 80 Kmph on the speedo.

What i didn't like :-
1. The door fabric is very dust attracting and is bound to get dirty too soon.
2. The integrated audio system could not connect to my I-Phone 1st generation.
3. Stingy of Honda to give illumination on only one power window switch
4. Not providing body colored mud flaps even in the top model.
5. The boot lid has no gas shocker to prevent it from falling accidentally

Overall i am happy with the buying experience at Classic Honda, Faridabad.

Hope to continue adding on to this as i gather more miles.

Till then drive safely and enjoy !

Some pics

First pic is of the Dashboard illumination i mentioned about
It runs all the way with the dashboard and is in subtle orange color. Looks cool at night.
Shall be posting actual pics and more detailed ones over the weekend.

Congrats. But I was puzzled by your choice between cars. It should generally be the Altis or the Civic. But you went for the car one segment down.

But none the less, the City is a leader in its segment and virtually unrivalled. Do post pictures as I am curious as to what the dash board lighting is

Well actually I am surprised that the rear boot lid has no gas filled shoks. Is this case. Anyone else. Or is it there on some specific variant.

This is a a very basic feature, there has to be some alternative

Congrats on the City, its an awesome vehicle. I must admit I am also confused by your comparison between the City and the Altis. The City is one segment lower than the Altis and I would expect a comparison between the Civic and the Altis too. Anyways, have a wonderful time with the City.

Hi Sammyboy, i wanted to buy the Altis only but for 3 lacs more you were getting the following extra
1. Bigger car image
2. Extra space in rear
3. ACC and a few more bhp's

Since my running is very less i resisted from spending extra 3 lacs.My wagon-r has run 30000kms in 8 years so i just wanted to upgrade to a bigger car.
Also i find that Altis is more mature looking suitable for execs/professionals in the age group of 35-40. I know my next buy would be from the Toyota stable, either the Altis diesel or if budget permits an SUV(Fortuner). Till then its Honda all the way.

Congrats Zoom! You got a killer deal, I wish I was also in Delhi.
The outer RVM has a black stripe, was that your idea?
Enjoy your drive.
