Tell us about the engine noise level, about how good the gear shift is etc.

BTW, did the steering FIAT logo fall off?

1. Noise less is a bit loud when driven with front windows down, especially while accelerating. But the sound level is much lower in the diesel generation, compared to the other cars. (Reference for Sound level of engine: Getz<PUNTO<Indica)

Gear shifts are getting little bit tough. It resists to fall into G1, and from G5-into-G4. G1 resistance is annoying in signals and moving from standstills.

2. The Steering FIAT logo is still held on. I stopped touching it anymore, even if it comes of no problem Fevi Kwik is only Rs5/-

3. I din't say I love drought, continuous wet weather is pissing me off ! How many times to clean my cars
My Padmini hasn't seen day from a week now !

Hello,

Our PUNTO's ex-showroom cost was 5.88L, for the month of March. We made payments in March itself but the delivery was in April as I demanded for a 2010, BS4 Model !
The rest of the cost such as RoadTax (Approx 93K), other additional almost a 1L extra overall; Hence it was 5.88L + 1L = 6.88L (Approx).

The models from April is 17K more I guess so. We didn't get any cash discounts I guess so, as my dad had already finalised a deal and I wasn't aware of anything as I wasn't in station

May I know why are you asking so much in detail ? Are you booking a PUNTO or already did ? If you want more details then PM me.

Regards

1300 kms on, my average reading never goes beyond 11.5 km/pl Never really taken her out on 'a long drive' yet!!

my mileage averages to approx 12 kmpl in busy bumper-bumper btm/silk board/koramangala traffic most of the time, am hoping this is a good number.

making a 700 km roundtip later next week, hopefully, i'll get to see the magical 20km average atleast on the ODO!!

Here are a few pictures for the day : ENJOY maddi

How on earth you dont like driving when it rains. You have such a beautiful machine like the Punto. If I were you, I would have enjoyed every moment of it. Forget the cleaning part, you anyways have to do it.

When it comes to your Padmini, I can understand. Your car isnt well equipped to handle rains. Very basic thing called Wiper, you dont have. Forget the rest.

Hi sujith,

Im planning to pick up a punto ( I am in love with it since last 5 years ) in the next 3-4 months, lot of confusions in my mind regarding diesel or Petrol . above all my budget would not be more than 6 lakhs
So just wanted to know the above details ..also as you say approx 20% gets added to the ex showroom cost. which escalates the cost to so high levels

Never continue to accelerate when you know you got to stop or slow down, this will give +points to your mileage also save fuel. Advantage in E-injected cars or Electronically controlled cars is that the Fuel is cut-off to the engine while decelerating.

In bumper to bumper traffic 12Km/L is Superb that too in Bangalore with average speed of 13KmpH , I get only 10-11 in such traffics

Cost wise always its almost a lakh on the ex-showroom cost. I guess for you the Petrol version should work out cheaper, should be around 5lakh.

You are right sujith, may be i will have to fore go a MJD and stick to a petrol version
may be a 1.2 emotion which is i guess around 5.7 OTR
I dont have much of a running at this moment too. hardly 600-700 km per month average . but i always feel a 1.2 with 68ps is bit underpowered . Did you test drive any 1.2 GP
I also wanted to ask you one thing . The E GP has seat height adjuster right. How does it work. is it that it lifts up the the seat totally or just lifts the butt.

We hardly drive 300-400KM a month, but still as we already have Petrol cars we went for a Diesel. If you run 600KM+ then I guess its economical for you. But budget also important naa, so choice is yours.

Don't judged by seeing the power in any units and compare with other cars, you will end up doing this for life. Mind you I do 170KmpH on the corridor roads with my stock 63BHP Santro e-RLX, now how do you compare ? You may buy an 75BHP car which can go upto 140KmpH only. So what am trying to say here is, you like the car go for it !.

" If you watch Tamil movies then you will know this dialog 'money come today go tomorrow yaaa....' "

I haven't driven the GP yet, its not out yet I guess or else we[FCB] would have got a call from the officials.

In general for all models, the seat height adjuster mechanism lifts the entire seat from the bracket's height.

First HIGHWAY-TEST report

Hi all,

As my exams are nearing, [Yes am still a Student for your kind information], had to collect my Hall-Ticket, So I took my PUNTO for a TEST DRIVE alone to my college which is in Mandya, KA ie 100KM from Bangalore.

I shall list the PROs and CONs of the car, but before that the Mileage people highest was 22.7Km/L, surprisingly the vehicle had run approx 600KM+ from birth.

1978 - Fiat 1100 || 2010 - Fiat Grande Punto Emotion MJD!-dscn4408.jpg

PROs:

1. Mileage Mileage Mileage, Pull out the Fuel-Gauge and throw it out of the window, you don't need it in this vehicle ! JUST KEEP DRVING....

2. Stability, Very stable at high speed cornerings. Don't have to reduce the speed for cornering.

3. Handling, Very easy actually. Need a little practice for city driving as the vehicle is longer and wider.

4. Aero-Dynamic, No Wind-Resistance felt while over-taking Buses and Trucks.

5. Pick-Up, can be matched with Petrol vehicle confidently !

6. Fuel Cut-OFF, senses Braking, Deceleration, and Downhill decent and *cuts the fuel supply to the engine as it isn't required. Plus point for Fuel efficency.

7. Negligible resistance with A/Con engaged, even with Load in the car no resistance felt now drop in power.

CONs:

1. Tyre Noise, Even with windows rolled up Tyre noise very loud inside the cabin. This is when driven on surface corroded roads(Rough patches formed due to over usage of roads/ Plying of Heavy trucks)

2. Sun glare on the meter console glass, The plastic casing for steering column reflect light at the meter console glass and makes it impossible for reading the meters.

3. Cabin lights dim-n-dip , this was noticed at night when I had stopped the car in my street with the harzard lights ON and also the Cabin Lights. When the 6 indicators light up, the cabin lights Dims !!

NOTE: Next post will be of the Mysore Trip.

Regards

Good report. No car is perfect, and I feel for the cons you have mentioned, pros far outweigh them and make Punto such a delightful hatch.

First Long DRIVE

My PUNTO's 1st long drive,

1. Total trip distance was 454KM [Home-to-Home].
2. Average fuel efficiency of 19-20KmpL.
3. 4 adult passengers.
4. Top speed touched 130KmpH.
5. Driving speed 90-100KmpH.

Trip was to Dornahalli, a place near Mysore about 30KM from the City. Then from there it was straight to Chamundi Hill just to check the hill climbing ability of the car and power. After the decent we went to the St.Philomena's Chruch in Mysore. After that was straight home !

PORs:

1. No tiredness in journey. Vehicle very comfortable and spacious enough.

2. Very stable. Vehicle doesn't bounce while at high speeds on wavy roads.

3. Very good at hill climbing. I climbed the entire hill in only 4th gear, literally.

CONs:

1. Engine and tyre noise gets very loud after 100KmpH.

2. After 110Kmph. engine vibrations where pretty disappointing

Here are the pictures, enjoy maddi

Looks like your brain, body and more importantly your heart has started to accept the Punto to the fullest level as you have grown up driven extensively with the Fiat 1100.

Your car performance is excellent, especially that its still running in. Take very good care of her
