Personally, do you advice to go for alloys and new tires? I mean a very very similar setup like yours. And yes, please do give me the make and model of the alloys and whatever details I need to know about the Michelins too.

I am a quick driver and love high speeds, so I guess I would definitely need them and surely you too would suggest the same

First things first. Here are the alloy details

Brand: HRS
Size: 14"
Model: H-344

And here are the Tyre details

Brand: Michelin
Size: 185/60 R14
Model: XM1+

Ok here's what I recommend. If you want a faster car in a straight line, stick with the stock rubber. If you want a more stable car, smoother, slower but more sure around corners, at the cost of a little FE, then go for the upsize. I also considered the aesthetic point of view when I bought my upsized tyres and alloys. Keep me posted.

***ODO UPDATE AND FE CALCULATION***

Odo reading: 2210 km
Trip distance: 703 km

Fuel used: 40.30 Liters

Fuel efficiency worked out to be 17.5 kmpl. But I'm afraid the fuel pump guy didn't fill it up to the max. He stopped earlier manually. So I'm assuming by last time's filling that she could have taken at least 2 more liters. So I'm assuming 16.5 kmpl this is in the city with 100% AC and decent to bad traffic conditions.

No issues yet, all previous problems with regard to ICE was resolved. The car's beautiful!

I opened the fuse box and re-plugged in the fuse for the horn. Both the central locking and horn started working. No problems since.

Effective fuel efficiency - 19.7 kmpl.

Winter's here people! Diesel gets more viscous, AC goes off, FE goes up up up!!!

That is some good driving skills in extracting the value for every single drop of diesel. Keep it going.

PS: Did you achieve those figures with A/C on all the time?

That's why I wrote the next line i.e. winter no AC! I got about 16.5 - 17.5 kmpl with AC on 100% during the summer.

Average FE in city - 17.5 kmpl

Wait till the engine gets properly run-in. I regularly get 19-20 kpl in winters, which drops down to 15-17 kpl in summer.

@bydesign and @architect why did you guys choose 185/60R14, isn't 65 profile an accurate match for stock tires, for this rim size and width? With the tire size you have used, odo and FE calculations must be getting inflated by about 2.8% (roughly half a Kmpl for readings in 15-20 range). Don't Michelins come in that particular size?

I am not aware of the size ByDesign has in his car. I have got 185/70/R13 (both the Michelin XM1+ as well as the Yoko A-drives I had earlier) instead of the stock 165/80/R13, as I am running the original steel wheels.

The profile height (obviously theoretical) in the stock tyre is 80% of 165 which is 132 mm. In case of the upgrade I am using the profile height is 70% of 185 which is 129.5 mm. The total diameter of the wheel itself is 13" or 330.2 mm.

I got XM1+'s on my car as well, I can't remember if they were 65's or 70's. I'll have to double check. I think mine are 185/65's. I'll update this thread later, it's way too cold outside to go check my tires haha!

I'm pushing the car quite hard now, taking turns at fast as she'll go comfortably, it's just so much fun to drive!
