Thar Crde 2015 Facelift 66K

70 K Service Due.

Thinking of preventive maintenance for hoses and rubber parts inside engine bay.

Radiator and AC condensor changed recently. I was wondering if anyone has the parts number for the coolant pipes belts etc to order. Difficult to figure out from oriparts or boodmoo.
The turbo lower pipe is changed but upper one and all the smaller diameter pipes for coolants etc amd the belt.
Anything else I should change?

Anyone else faced this issue with their Thar CRDe and what should be the corrective action??
The latch assembly in the front inside the 7 slat grill like a box where it locks has two adjustment nuts. Loosen them and pull the whole lock unit a few mm say 7-8 mm below and tighten them again. Check and repeat if needed. Needs correction every now and then. Say yearly.

Hi Doc,

Have noted your point, I opened the bonnet a few times this weekend to clean the engine bay, this time it was working perfectly. I always say that Jeeps are wolverines and have the ability to heal themselves naturally

Re: Review: 1st-gen Mahindra Thar (2011 - 2019)

Update on blown hose:

Forgot that shops close at 4pm. I can't go out in the morning to search in shops because of work commitments.

So I twitted to Mahindra customer care about this part. They quickly responded and someone called me yesterday morning.

I sent them the photos on Whatsapp and waited.
The part was available in Pune as per inventory check. They were ready to ship it to me urgently. I paid and the part was shipped out within an hour. All this in matter of 3 hours!
The shipment is here today. I'm mighty impressed with the way Mahindra handled this. Credit where it is due.

Hi fellow bhpians. A friend went offroading in a seasonal stream in his Mahindra Thar 2018. Now it has started emitting black smoke and there is power loss. The car was services recently and adulterated fuel is surely not the cause as he always fuels up from COCO pumps. We are pretty much sure it is the water which is the culprit. The car emits black smoke particularly when we shift gears( after releasing clutch). Kindly give guidance on what could have gone wrong so that mechanics do not rip us apart. Thanks in advance.

You can get the Air mass sensor and EGR valve cleaned and then see, in Thar CRDe the air intake pipe before the air filter is placed facing downwards and is exposed directly to the ground, so if water splashes too much there’s high chance that the water will get into the air filter or worse beyond that. Hence, if doing regular off roading in water it’s better to switch to a snorkel.

I talked with a trusted mechanic on phone and he also said that the problem might be related with EGR. Taking the car to him tomorrow, lets see how it goes. Thanks for your promt reply and guidance.

Re: Review: 1st-gen Mahindra Thar (2011 - 2019)

Jeep is fixed. Running like a dream. Apart from blown hose, others turned out okay. I'm thinking I'll have a set of them in stock at home. In the meanwhile, removed humongous Mahindra badge, and pampered the interiors. The inclinometer is fidgety but compass is nice. Got the emblems ready but having second thoughts. I'll probably run it without the badge for few days and see if my mind changes.

Please check the air filter. For all you know water may have entered the air filter and clogged it.

Simple way to check - take the air filter assembly out and run the vehicle. If there is no black smoke then the air filter is clogged.

People who have replaced front seats with ones from Innova in their Thars, where did you procure the stuff? I found just one entry on OLX and didn't inspire much confidence. I don't see any on classifieds too. Any pointers?

Not sure about other cities, here in Ahmedabad we have two options:

a) to get the entire thing done by the modification guys (seat procurement + fixing),
b) get a used one from the scrap market, couple of those markets operate here who exclusively sell used car seats and once bought get it fixed by a good seat vendor.

I too have explored this option of changing the front seats, however, installing any other car seat would require additional holes on the floor board since it won’t match 100% with OEM seat base. In longer run this will tend to invite rust formation, as of now I have purchased a memory foam based back rest and base cushion from Amazon which does the job pretty well and provides good comfort. At the most one can put extra foam and make the OEM seats more cushy and comfortable.

I have added extra foam to the base but it still isn't that great. I heard that Innova seats are a direct fit on Thar's rails and that's why it is such a popular mod but I can't be sure. May be a specific model year fits perfectly.

Spacers installed at long last. These were sitting on a shelf for almost 6 months. Need to test if it makes difference on speed breakers/ rumble strips where the Thar shakes its rear crazily. Possibly a positive change in braking too. Let's see.

Based on your last post, I cross checked with my modification guy, he confirmed that the innova seats don’t require any additional holes on the floor board. For the driver seat, the original frame needs to be modified a little, for the co-driver seat, a hole is required to be drilled on the toolbox top.

Coming back to the question where to source it, either you can ask your modification guy to source and do the job or you will have to procure it from the scrap or kabadi market.

Re: Review: 1st-gen Mahindra Thar (2011 - 2019)

It rained like cats and dogs in Ahmedabad today however, for the first time there’s been issue of water leakage around windshield area and from the front door gaps. This hasn’t happened till now even during the cyclone that hit Ahmedabad recently. What could be the possible issue for this? Does the rubber bearing require replacement this early? Photographs are below for ready reference.

These are the main water entry points. I had changed the windshield beading but no success.
The only solution is to apply black silicone from outside between the glass and beading.
