Short summary will be keep the thread concise. |
Abroad:
1. Been to - Ireland, UK, France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, UAE.
2. Driven in Ireland, Scotland & New Zealand.
3. Favorite country has to be Ireland. Mind-blowingly friendly & fun people, and loads of places for road-tripping. And yes, for Guinness & pubs.
4. Should be a tie between the 3 countries - Ireland for empty roads, colourful small towns for stopovers & the roller-coaster rural roads. Scotland for gob-smacking greens, & even more lonely roads. Though, the best I have to say is NZ. Again, friendly people & all that, but coupled with scenery you haven't seen or will hope to see anywhere else in the world.
India:
1. Been to - J&K, Punjab, Himachal, Haryana, UP, Uttarakhand, Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, AP, TN, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan & MP.
2. Driven only in Delhi, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan & Uttarakhand. And for some days in Hyderabad too.
3. Favourite state has to be Kerala. The scenery is something else, and the people, mostly the homestay owners are very selfless & friendly.
4. Best memory of driving was trip to Mussourie, through Rajaji National Park. But roads in every state of India are great, from a backseat drivers perspective. I liked best the route out from Ooty to Mysore (Or is it because it is a recent one!)
