Re: Nandi Hills - An early morning drive Have been looking for short getaway for some time now but was unable to decide the place. As with most IT guys in Bangalore, its difficult to get a proper & unplugged weekend off.
This means I won't be able to spare a whole day, but wanted a spot which would be refreshing enough! "Nandi Hills" was the most suggested location as I could leave by 3-4 AM on a Friday night and come back by 12 on Saturday (Brief, but refreshing!). Route Taken : Koramangala > Ejipura > Domlur > IndiraNagar > Old Madras Road > Binniganahalli Flyover > BIAL > Nandi Hills Road
We started at 4 AM and reached the Nandi Hills checkpost by 6.
As already mentioned in the thread, getting there is pretty easy. Follow the distance markers on the BLR-HYB expressway after crossing Bangalore Airport and within 10 km.s after BIAL, you'll reach the junction of Nandi Hills road and you'll see a huge map of the place on your left. Form there, keep on going straight till the dead end and take left. After a while, you'll reach a junction which has a statue of a "Nandi", from there you have to take right, and you will reach the checkpost in no time.
By the time we finished our tea there, the gates were opened and we started the climb. The view was just awesome! Reached the top of the hill at 6.40 or so, paid the toll and moved on. The scenic viewpoints are a great thought and we were halting at almost every bend to take pics. Its a little difficult to find parking spots though on weekends.
Had agreat time up there and started from there finally at around 10, promising myself to go back whenever I get time again.. Tolls paid: Bangalore-Hyderabad expressway - Rs. 115 (Onward+Return) Nandi Hills entrance - Rs. 100 (For 4 people) Fuel:
~Rs. 1200 (It was Rs. 80/lit. then )
Here are a few pics.. (Pardon the image quality, these are captured using my beloved Lumia 925 smartphone) |
