Since you did not mention the time frame for the "small break", I guess it should be over by now!
waiting for the next batch of road trips to begin!

One can setup a few shops on the top, looking at the number of people there. But the views look good though.

The next set of pics will be on the way soon - have been a little busy with work.

What is the altitude we are talking about?
Also the initial forest stretch looks dense. Is there a stark boundary when it gets over and the grasslands start?

KP is approx 1712 msl. The total distance to the peak is 13kms. The initial 6 kms are through dense forest and the rest on open grasslands. There is no boundary as such. The forest degrades gradually to make way for the grassland.

Yes, this is the new look Bhattara mane... Full with attached bathroom, jacuzzi and the likes... Just joking Actually they have extended the house to accommodate more people.... This was actually in January end this year...

We had planned to reach the peak and come down the same day... But we slowed down considerably as we neared the peak... Had not carried any sleeping bags or tents!! and guess what! We started descending at 1 AM with 2 powerful torches (we were 8 people). Till about 3 AM there was some moon light and hence it was not so difficult... but later it became pitch dark and we came back to the Mantapa and had that fire.. being January it was damn cold!! Was quite an experience

Way to go Anantu. For the first time I'm seeing a photo where a lady is seen in KP trek. It allays all fears of taking women on such stretches.
It's raining treks! And I'm loving it!

GOA (Yet Again) 2007 TRIP PICS

Pic 1: A Pune friend of mine had called me up and asked me if we could all meet up in Goa for a chat. I said yes (obviously) and called Jagga at 9:30 PM.

I'm driving down to Goa tomorrow morning to meet my stock market buddies. You coming?
Um.. OK! Count me in!

That's Jagga for you - he takes about 3 seconds to take a decision on joining a road trip. And we set off to Goa the next day.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-008.jpg

Pic 2: There are about 10 different & interesting routes to get to Goa from Bangalore. This time, we picked the Agumbe route. Agumbe is called the Cherrapunji of South, and the Agumbe ghats is great fun.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-004.jpg

Pic 3: Some people truly have no road sense - jumping lanes and stopping on other side blocking traffic at the railway gate.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-009.jpg

Pic 4: Such irresponsible road behavior really gets my goat.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-picture-012.jpg

Pic 5 & 6: Firangis are quite surprised when they see cows on the road. They should see this!

Pic 10: We stopped by the roadside and climbed up the stairs to the viewpoint. Monkeys have already taken a liking to the car.
