Yes. Now that you mention the handywork of Ampere, I do recollect.
Imagine Jagga sharpening two huge swords then screaming at SmartCat: Yeh Freakishly lamba haat mujhe de de!

KUMARAPARVATHA TREK PICS CONTD:

Pic 1: Calling Alpha, Bravo, Charlie! Are you there? Suddenly, we heard a cackle from our Walkie Talkie. It was our worried trek mates - because we were sleeping outside the tent and now missing from the campsite.

Pic 2: We gave them the bad news that we hadn't been dragged away and eaten by wild animals - they were quite disappointed. And we called them to our location.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p2180091.jpg

Pic 3: We lied down among tall grass chatting away for an hour or so.

Pic 4: We then trekked back to the campsite only to find all the lazy bums still snoring away to glory. So we collapsed both the tents on the sleeping beauties to wake them up.

Pic 5: And then we prepared some tasty breakfast - our water supplies were almost empty by now.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p2180098.jpg

Pic 6: And we descended down the hill to Bhattara Maney. The trek back down was really like a walk in the park, so early in the morning.

Pic 7: Check out the height of the grass - some were over 8 feet!

Pic 8: We finally reached Bhattara Maney and gave a much needed rest to our tired legs.

Jagga is actually so short that - when it rains, he is generally the last one to know.

In the photo, you can see me wearing my favourite "coupe convertible" Pant cum Chaddi. It's actually a pant, but within 30 seconds (just like Merc SLK), it can be converted into a Chaddi.

From some angles, he looks like Pamela Anderson (you need to look closely at the right places).

We climb down the bridge and do some interesting stuff like pee, brush our teeth and take a bath - all at different places.

we found numerous impromptu waterfalls along the way - that kept the Shakeelas and Silk Smithas of our group happy.

If you have trouble getting a bride, you could be having Naga Dosha. Then this is the place to visit. Although we were not sure if we had Naga Dosha, we got into the temple anyway and all of us asked Lord Subramanya for Aishwarya Rai.
One of the Exiting travelogues I have ever read (bumped Into this thread from the trucks on wheels concept); And it is because your snazzy oneliners(In fact i copied all the ones which were damn hilarious and I was laughing whole heartedly reading it at my desk. It almost took me to 7 hrs straight to complete this all 53 pages since I was savouring every bit of it!

Bingo. I will be having a quiz at the end of this travelogue, with exciting prizes for the winners.
I will be one of the toughest contenders if you held that competition.

First prize required is : Pamela Anderson treatment on the beach.

Continue to do so, you have a great way of relating things to the core.!

Even my friends get disappointed when I come back from trip/trek safe and sound so I happily return the favour when they go out

That should be a Skink (Haavrani in Kannada?)

We are perfecting the art now - we will give the next Pamela Anderson a nice mermaid like tail. But how big are you? If you have a large belly, then I will need to get appropriate heavy duty machinery.

Haavrani - yes, that's what we call them.

Smartcat -- Good KP trek! As everyone here says, no trekker is worth his salt, if he hasnt tasted Bhatta's pickle

I did KP in Jan 2009. There was a good source of water even in Jan, below the Mantap. Its more like a small tank, into which the natural water source pours in. And a Kinley Bottle half cut was used as the tap .

2 snaps from my trek.

@pramod

The tall grass has been replaced by green shrubs. Since we never reached KP, can you post some pics of your trek from the Mantapa to the top of the peak?

Didn't know Bhatta's pickle was so famous though

Well.. it wasnt all that Green. We can attribute some of the Green in the 2 snaps to the saturation setting i did, i suppose.
Jan is always hot and all Karnataka treks, u would eventually find yellow grass instead of the elusive green carpet of monsoons!

@Smartcat -- Unfortunately, we ended the day at Mantapa. And only 2 out of 5 of us had the strength to try it the next morning. But we made sure, even those 2 dont do it, as we were sure, they will use it against us for sometime to come

A few more snaps from our trek.

woaah, look at the number of shoes strewn outside Bhattara Maney.

KUMARAPARVATHA TREK PICS (CONCLUDING PART):

Pic 1, 2 & 3: Bhatta was taking a longer time than usual to prepare lunch. So we were exploring the area around Bhattara Maney. Here is our friend demonstrating some kind of old Kerala martial art with a stick.

Pic 4: Lord Subramanya almost instantly grants wishes. Remember we all wanted Aishwarya Rai to be our wife? God heard our wish and introduced us to Aishwarya.

Pic 5: She's called Aishwarya because she has Aishwarya Rai's eyes.

Pic 6: Quite a yappy puppy she was.

Pic 7, 8 & 9: Exploring Bhatta's large garden

Pic 10: That's Mr. Bhatta at the centre. After having lunch, we went back to Kukke Subramanya and got into the night bus to Bangalore.

Hopefully its not with trekking again; I really wish you post some travelogue by car. Leave alone the mountains Smartcat; I really wish you watched the movie Hills have eyes & be scared of mountains. You're trekking & I'm tired of reading, how is it?

Come on aargee. Don't make it so dramatic. And remember, Jagga is at his best in the trekking episodes.
SmartCat. Was fun reading all the while. Next time I come to Bengaluru, we should meet up with the coterie.

The next episode is a road trip in its purest kind - a solo drive to Mumbai and back to Bangalore via Goa. No Jagga, Karthic, Binny or me - just the car, scenary and a loose plot (storyline)

You should have rested your eyes at Bhattara Maney's garden - you wouldn't have been so tired

We'll invite aargee too with the bait of a luxury road trip. And then, we'll make him climb the Kumaraparvatha!
