A strange thing I have noticed is there is lot mud splashed on ORVM from the front tires since this change. Has anyone encountered a similar problem ? is it just the different pattern on tires that is causing this ? It wasn't the case with Bridgstones earlier, which I have used over 3-4 seasons before this.

you are spot on.This is due to the change in tyre pattern. Please check the air pressure also as mc5 is a soft compound tyre. You should maintain a little less than that of Bridgestone.

Which are the popular 185/70/14 models now?
I have Apollo Accelere now, which ran for 50K (on 4 tyres). I upgraded them from stock 165 at 60K...
I am now used to additional comfort of 185 and want to stick to them.
Suggestions welcome.

You would have discovered the Continental CC5 to be the answer had you flipped through the last few pages of the thread.

Hello, I'm getting a decent deal on stock Tyre replacement for my Swift in right out of showroom condition. I am planning on replacing the stock 185/65R15 with Continental MC5 205/60R15. My prime criteria is road noise reduction and increased grip on all surfaces. Can someone tell me if this would be a worthwhile upgrade on these parameters if the car comes with stock Bridgestone or Goodyear tyres?

Am using Michelin XM2 on nitrogen for the past year or so. Very comfort-oriented and decent for the city.

Hi guys,

Need your views on changing the tyres of my 10 year old Swift. It has run very little. Just around 50k kms now. I need to change my tyres. The car is currently running on the standard 165/80/14 ones. The running would not be too much and once in a while there would be highway runs. Can someone suggest which brand I can go for and what section considering that the ones that I have now have pathetic braking capability?

Cheers!

Bought a couple of 185/70 R14 MRF ZLO's for 3950 apiece from TVM. Balancing was free. Two new valves and alignment cost 450 more.

Hi,

I am due for a tyre change for my Swift VDi, and was in split minds if I should put down the money and upgrade to alloys as I may only keep the car for another year or so.
I may be able to get my hands on the Ciaz's 15' steel rims and wheel covers at a good deal.
Wanted to know if it'd be a perfect fit on the Swift? I plan to use the same 185/65 R15 profile that the Ciaz comes with.
Seems like a low cost option to enjoy the better ride the 15' offers. What are your thoughts? please:

My swift Vdi has been running on 15' 195 Micheli Primacy for 3 years now and I can vouch that its a world of difference compared to the 14' 175s the car came with.

That being said, if you are only going to keep the car for another year then I would suggest against a tyre upgrade as it doesn't seem worthwhile.

Even though my tyres have a decent thread on them but three years time span and close to 60k KMs of running, I think it's time for new shoes. Confused between Primacy 3 ST and Energy XM2. I am keen to know the difference between the two as well. Suggestions anyone?

P3ST is a more premium product compared to XM2. So, it has a bit more grip and comfort compared to XM2. The latter' advantage being cheaper and a bit more robust and long lasting relative to P3ST.

You wouldn't go wrong with either on the Swift. Another good option is the Conti MC5 if you are looking for a change of brand.

Highly appreciate the response, John.

Even though I am tempted to change brand but I think I would stick to Michelin as they have served me very well in the past. The price difference doesn't seem to be much between the 3ST and XM2 (Max 2-3k for a set of 4), so 3ST makes more sense.

I do have another query regarding the sidewall height. I am currently running on 195 60 R15 on ZDi stock Enkei alloys and was considering whether to upgrade to 195 65 R15. How would the height difference affect the ride?

I was also running 195 60 R15 XM2 on our Swift ZDi and it was quite fine. There is a little loss of GC due to reduced circumference, but its not a concern as Swift sits quite tall on its wheels.

195 65 R15 is a little too big and will affect the meter readings. If you cannot afford to lose GC, the stock size of 185 65 R15 is the best.

Cross posting from another thread in hope of a faster answer.

One of my Yoko A drive suffered a side wall tear due to a curb hit. The tyres are about 39k kms run and the remaining 3 are in reasonably good shape and I think will last for another 10k atleast. What are my options at this stage? the spare is hardly used for 300kms, so I would like to retain it. The tyres are 4.5 years old.

1. Change just the damaged tyre with a new one
2. Change all the 4 tyres. If yes, then which ones should I go for? The current ones are 185.70 R14. I don't want to go back to Yoko and I don't want to spend too much either. Should I go back to the OE size of 165?
3. Change 3 tyres, use one of the existing tyres as spare and get the original spare to run with the new tyres.

experts, please let me know. This is for a 2013 Dzire, VDI.

Hello everybody. This thread has been long and I had tried to read as many replies as I could but still could not make my mind. So just want your advice quickly.
I am changing from stock 165/80/R14 MRf Zv2k on my Swift Vdi which have clocked 54000 Kms and are 5 year old, still have got some tread left but have started showing cracks in between the treads, so better change them than to take any risk.
My drive average is 10000Km per year with once a month highway drive of around 500-700 km, rest all city drive in Delhi/NCR. As brakes on 2012 Swift diesel are poor, I am thinking of upgrading to 185/70/R14, as many of fellow Bhpians have done and suggested. Did some window shopping and got the following quotes-
1. MRF Zlo- 3680 per tyre
2. Apollo Amazer 4G life- 3800
3. Continental- 4200
4. Yokohama-4200

As my running is low and will have to sell my diesel car in next 3 years or so as it nears 10 years mark, I dont want to spend too much on tyres, so keeping Michelins outside. But still I am not on strict budget. My priorities will be- good improvement in braking, comfort and less noise.
So whether Apollo will do the job or should I shell out 400 per tyre more and invest in Yoko or Continentals, and which one then?

TIA

Yokohama or Continental are my first suggestions and then look at MRF Z.L.O.

Yokohama Earth 1 is available I think which is a nice tyre too.
