Hii everyone

I have a maruti swift vxi 2016 petrol with stock tyre size 165/80 R14. Now I want to upgrade to bigger tyres. I am confused as to which size will be the best? 15inch or 16inch?

Note: I also have lowering springs which I will install after the upgrade of the tyres.

Please suggest me.

Finally changed my car's shoes.

My swift Vxi 2008 used to run on Bridgestone Turanza 185/R14/70 . I drove more than 60k Km with it. Since the car was sparsely used, I postponed the tyre change, but since now with the risk in Public transport, I have to use my car more often on highways and cannot take any more risk and decided to change the tyres.

Read through some part of this thread and decided on MRF ZLO / Apollo Amazr 4g .
But surprisingly , got drawn to Conti CC5 mnfd in 4th quarter of 2019, bought them on the suggestion of a fellow Bhpian , who directed me to Wheelocity , Rd No 10, Jubilee Hills.

It took about 45 min for the change and costed me 4200/- a piece.

Will have to wait how the new shoes fare.

Dear BHP-ians,
I own a 2010 Swift VDi which runs on upsized Michelin Energy XM2 185/70 R14 tyres. It's due for a change as it has run close to 50k kms. Please suggest me the best tyres in the market right now? I'm more inclined towards one with better handling, ride comfort , without compromising much on mileage.

Also, should I stick to the same 185/70 R14 or should I upsize it to 195/70's running on the stock rims.

Please suggest with the best tyre and also on whether to upsize or not.

The most popular choice for the Swift has historically been 195/60 R15 tires. I ran those on my Swift for 7 years before selling the car, and it was a good balance between looks, meaty stance, performance, braking and handling. Go for a good brand such as Michelin or Yokohama and this size should work well.

The Michelin P4ST in 195/60 15 inchers is a great choice. I run these on my City and am pleased with its performance and ride quality. Other option for a lightly less plush ride quality is the Yokohama Earth-1 tires in the same size which is what I had on my erstwhile Swift.

I thought that to be 185/70R14. Does 195/60 fit on the Stock Rim of Swift VDi?

Dear JMaruru, I too had the same doubt. If I had to go with 195/60 R15's, then should I upgrade to 15" alloys?

You can get the 185/70 tyres for the existing steel rims. If you can get hold of the OEM 15" alloys then buy 195/60 R15 tyres. Will make a lot of difference with those 15" wheels in terms of handling.

A wheel change is required. The existing 14" wheel won't accept 195 section wheels.

Has anyone here used 195/65 R15 tyres in 2nd gen Swift?

Mine is a 2014 Zxi with 185/65 R15 tyres on stock 5.5J alloy wheels. A friend of mine has got wider tyres for his Ecosport Trend. The old 195/65 R15 tyres (just 25k kms old, 2016 made, Goodyears) are lying unused at his place.

I am thinking of getting these tyres fitted on my car as the stock MRFs have become hard and noisy after 35k kms. The correct upsize for Swift is 195/60 R15 and a lot of people are using this size without any issues. With 65 profile however, there is 2% variation from stock. The car will ride higher by 13mm or so. I don't mind the drop in mileage or handling as long as the rubber does not foul with wheel arches. Shall I go ahead and pick the Goodyear tyres (which I'll get for free)?

Also, Parag sir has used 195/65 R15 on his Ertiga without any issues. IIRC stock size for Ertiga is also 185/65 R15.

I might have to go for a replacement of my 2009 VDi tyres. Currently, have 'Michelin' 185/70R14 profile on them. The vehicle has done 98K now. What are the options for this profile?

I haven't done the tyre change yet. Our car is driven very low and mostly in city roads. Our mechanic, who inspected all 4 tyres, suggested me to continue with the same set of tyres for another 5-6 months.

But, I'll be upsizing it 195/60 R15's, as the diameter in this case is the same with the existing ones and also it's one of the popular choice of tyres for Swift. Yet to decide on which brand to go for.

After three and half yearsand 65000kms its time to change my Michelin Primacy 3ST which was a delight in terms of handling and comfort, the premium paid for it was fully justifiable. Since my swifty has clocked 233000 kilometers , I was planning to upgrade her. So wanted a more budget oriented tyre. Went for Conti UC6 in size 195/60R15. The tyre is manufactured in the 40th week of 2020clap: Paid Rs.18000/-for 4 tyres .The car has run 160kms till today. Will comment on the perfomance after munching some more miles.

So am in the market to change my Swift ZXi tyres, current one Michilin XM2+ 185/70/R14 (old model)are showing signs of minor cracks after good use.

However, this has lead me to a dilema.I was clearly going to pick same size and brand/model as I was extremely satisfied with their performance, however as I enquired about them through various dealers in Delhi NCR, I am made to understand that since Nov19 no Michilin stock is coming through and it may take some more time for the stock to be available.

So this leads me to a position where now I have to choose a tyre which is similar in performance, I have been suggested Apollo's, Bridgestone and even Pirellis, though I am not sure which one will work great in terms of reliability, performance and less road noise. I use the car mostly in Delhi NCR and occasionally for out station trips. Looking forward to suggestions from fellow brothers.

I'm looking for wheels for my Swift which comes with 185/65/r15 tyres and 15 x 5.5J alloys. I would like to keep the stock tyres as well as the stock wheel size with aftermarket ones but it seems to be difficult to find 15 inches below 7J width which is too much for the oem tyres. Next size up will be 205/60/r15 which I dont want to go for to keep mileage and light steering. Im guessing going up to 6.5J width is alright.

No really big shops here in Mumbai but Punjab seems to be the hub for rims.

Any inputs would be appreciated.

Plati and Neo wheels had some good options in 6J and 6.5J when I checked last year. Do check with nearby alloy dealers or distributors if they have them in stock.

For the tyres, you can continue with stock size on 6J or 6.5J wheels without an issue. Stock tyres will look narrow on wider rims but are a viable option if you don't want to compromise with steering lightness and fuel efficiency.

195/60R15 is a more popular upsize than 205/60R15. Many users (of 2nd gen) have them on OEM alloys and face no major drop in fuel efficiency or steering lightness. 205 will be an overkill for the kind of power this car generates. My recommendation would be to go for 6/6.5J alloys on 195/60R15 tyres.
