Buff , im quite sure a 195/65/15 fits in the wheel well without a hassle .. Thats whats running as my stepny right now ..

True .. the 195/60/14 I'm running also fits fine. On very close observation I felt that there may be a sliiiiight bulge on the centre of the boot mat. But nothing so significant that it would reduce boot space.

Now,
sometime in the coming month the baleno is going to get new tires.This depends on when we take the car out for a roadtrip.So potential options are
195/60/14
+ves- good ride,perfect upsize for my car,reduced chances of steel rim bending
-ves- Alloys wont really look great in 14"(subjective),tires cant be swapped with a higher segment car,ride

185/65/14
+ves- Stock size on the vxi,would be the best bet,cheap!
-ves - cant be swapped with a higher segment car,ride.

195/55/15
+ves- Perfect upsize,.better handling,..looks better and bigger,..stock size on a higher segment car
-ves -Ride goes down,cant be mounted on a steel rim(bending)

205/50/15
+ves - handling,Would be a perfect size for a higher seg car,will look great from the back
-ves - Ride will be killer,car will slow down a bit,Alloys are a must(read expense)

Now this car might be gone in the next 2-4 months(about 2.5-3k kms).And my dad is sure as hell not going to buy new tires for a new car.We might buy one of the new age diesels like the verna sort,In which case 195/55/15 would be my best bet.

So basically,which would be the best viz a viz performance,ride,fe.

Then comes the problem of which tire to buy,..
Eagles are out of the question,..and im interested in the es100,G3,Maxxis Ma-Z1.Pilots;lets see
HEre i could compromise a bit on performance for ride and road noise

I think you should back-calculate here. Decide on the size(s) that will make sense in your next car and then see if they fit the Baleno. If you have to compromise on ride a bit for 2-4 months, so be it. Apparently you are more inclined towards 15"ers in your next car. In that case choose the alloys too for the next car and fit those 15" alloys on the Baleno.

Once you buy the new car, you can replace both wheels and tyres.

IMO, the key thing to decide here is what your next car will be. Once you sort that out, the rest of the decisions will fall into place.

Ok and what about the tires,..budget is around 3.5

Given this criteria the popular recommendation would probably be the Michelins.

Confirmed news from a rally driver say that 195/55/15''s on a baleno technically and figuratively could be the correct upsize but practically it slows the car down and isnt as convincing around corners too .. He advised it was best to go in for 195/50/15''s and i paid heed to his advise .. Lets see how it works ..

Exactly, 195/55/R15 is the correct upsize, here is the math

Exactly... I also have this "slight" bulge even with 185/65R14.. and hence dont want to add another 10 mm to it.. given that I already have a sub with a box..in the boot that probably takes away 50-60 litres of space!!

anyway.. I not into checking the cornering limits of my car...so the 185/65 do just fine... the michelins I got are pretty comfy too with low noise...

binz... I would suggest that you go in for 185/65 as the verna comes in that tyre size (the petrol higher end that is)..

BTW.. just make sure that either you buy multi pcd alloys or the car that you plan to upgrade to has the same pcd as the Baleno

Hey are you sure you don't mean 185/65 R14. 185/60 is a little low. It's what the Esteems run.

You are rite, Me wrong. It's 185/65/R14.
Well the calculations were done for 185/65/R14 but while posting I made a mistake and keyd in 185/60/R14 (typo:) ). Mods if possible please correct the value in my previous post.
