I too was surprised to see the higher price for the 55 section one a few months back as I'm looking for new tyres for my Linea. Then I saw that the 205/55s are W rated, where as 205/60 and 65 are V rated. This one is definitely a higher grade tyre than 60 and 65 sections.

The price of 8.3k all inclusive is very good. It's closer to 9k in BLR if I'm not wrong. Looking at your initial observation, I'm thinking of just going with Continental MC5 or Perfinza.

Is Michelin rejigging the mix between Primacy 3 / 4 & Pilot Sports 3 / 4 in India? I noted that suddenly 225/50/16 is back in PS3 which was showing as unavailable for many months now.

For my Octavia TSI, will the PS3 (in upsized 225/50) be substantially better than the P4ST (OEM 205/55). I am currently on my 20K km P3ST with mixed reactions.

Damn. I just replaced to P4ST couple of months back. But I am surprised as to why Michelin is bringing back Pilot Sport 3 not on Pilot Sport 4 in this size. From what I enquired many dealers had old PS3 in stocks but almost ~18 months old. Is it some old stock clearing by Michelin?

Anyways I am happy with P4ST for now.

Hi All, what should be the price of 195/60/R15 Primacy 4ST ?

My Primacy 3ST suffered a huge puncture almost the size of 1 cm on the tread. Not sure if if it qualifies as a cut.

Puncture wala is asking 1500 for some puncture liquid sealant and mushroom patch.

My tyres are 5 yrs old, but tyres have run only 29K.

Please advise.

Don't take a risk, just replace that damaged tyre.

Call Darshan Tyres (various branches, check the one at JM Rd) or Lokmanya Auto Centre (Karve Rd) for quotes. The tyres generally cost about Rs 6600 +/-100 bucks a piece.

Michelin recommends replacing the tyres when the tread wear indicator is visible or every 10 years whichever is earlier. How long does a tyre last?

I bought 4ST in 195/60/15 section for 6500/tyre in Kerala (Kochi) 2 months back. I was previously using Michelin XM2. The ride has been a little smoother with out affecting the grip and cornering ability.

Guys, I have a question for you. The price for 195/65/15 section tyres were less than 195/60/15 (Michelin). The former has more rubber evidently. Can anyone explain?

Possibly just market differentiation. The lower sidewall should result in better handling which some people prefer.

That's normally how it's done, replace all 4 tyres as a set. But to do so or not is entirely your call. Speak for myself here, but I don't take risks with tyres.

The lower the sidewall, the more different mixes of cords and higher quality materials need to be used along with more advanced manufacturing techniques.

The lower the sidewall gets, the price jumps exponentially. Just check out the 45s and below on any site.

When I was in a similar situation I replaced two tyres, the fresher of the original 4, I put in the back and the new tyres I put in the front. The tyres were also worn out (had driven 45k km)

That being said, this was when I knew I was going to sell my Verna in the coming 6-9 months (at that time) and really didn't want to spend anything more than absolutely necessary.

So, after a lot of contemplation, decided to take the plunge with the P4ST for my Ecosport, which judging by the activity in this thread will soon take up the "National tire of Team BHP" mantle! stupid:

The stock good years that came with the car, lasted for almost 45k KM, which when considered to Apollo Alnacs or MRF ZTV that came with other cars in the price range, was pretty good. The compound of the tire however was pretty hard and coupled with the Ecosport's firm suspension setup, the ride was pretty nasty when the roads were a little less than perfect. Tire noise was also an issue at Highway speeds. These issues pretty much set the criterias for the next upgrade, which were softer compound, lower tire noise and better wet grip (had a couple of scary moments in the rain with the good years hence the same).

Drove into Global tires, Kochi and the choices we had were P4ST, Yokohama Blue earth and Hankook Kinergy Eco 2 (which the guy there was pushing a lot probably because the stock was from 2018). Decided to go with P4ST in the stock size itself (205-60 R16) and was quoted 30K which included fitting, wheel balancing, alignment and Nitrogen filling. I felt it was a little high but since we had a trip to Kottayam next day and to Bangalore the day after that, decided to go with it.

The process took close to 1.5 hours since the place was pretty crowded but nevertheless the guys doing the job knew pretty much what they were doing. They also found out that 2 of my alloys had a slight bent, which I am not surprised judging by the road condition in Kochi for the past few months :Frustrati

Been driving the car for almost a month now and so far the impressions are extremely good. Tire noise has reduced drastically and there is a slight improvement in the ride as well. I am yet to test the wet grip but I am sure it will be better than the Good years. Overall, extremely satisfied with the switch and hoping these sets should last at least for another 45k KM.

any idea what is the difference between Pilot Sport 3 and Pilot Sport 3 ST .

Based on some other threads on this forum, I was under the impression that it is advisable to change tires every 6 years irrespective of the tread/usage.
This 10 years seems new to me - is it really safe to use Michelin Tires for 10 years?
