Indica gets the Apollo Acelere(EDIT: 2 new ones now!)

This sunday I got rid of the Potenza GIII and fitted the indica with 185/60R13 Apollo Acelere tyres.
The requirement was simple
1. Tubeless
2. 185/60R13
3. Cheap
4. Long life and hard compound to be resistant to sidewall cuts and punctures.

The two brands which met the criteria were Goodyear NCT5 and the Apollo Acelere.
The former was around 2250/tire, but decided against that because it felt heavier and the rubber compound was soft.

So that left me with the Acelere option.
The car has done around 100kms since then, mostly on city roads. Have not tested handling much except for fast corners of flyover exits.
The initial impression
1. Light steering :
Steering feels much lighter than the Potenza GIII. I don't know why. Maybe light weight? Or different tread pattern
2. Slight lightfootedness: The front suspension is kaput, so the car has been a little skittish, felt a little more so on the new tyres, but I expect that once the suspension is fixed, it will be back to normal
3. Low noise : Thats noticeable. esp when cruising at 100 in top gear.
4. Bland looks : V tread looks cool!

On the handling front the car is more sure footed. But comparing a 45000 done Potenza to a brand new tyre does not indicate anything. Even a S322 will handle better than a treadless performance tyre.
But if we take cornering ability, its slightly less than what the Potenza's had when they were new, but I doubt it will be very significant. I had a good suspension when I got the Potenzas.

The acelere's are not directional, so I guess the design is geared more towards an overall benefit than pure performance as the potenza's were.
Moreover the technology is michelin, so under the hood its an energy, with indian stamp.

Verdict : Great tyre for the price. Value for money. Very less noise. They advertise low noise in their adverts, and they are right. I hope they are right about long life and puncture resistance too!
If you don't want an outright performance tyre, or can do without the good aggressive looks that a V tread gives, then this is the tyre for you. I am sold on these, and if my next car comes with tube type tyres, it may get the Apollo's too!

As for the pics, I don't have any but got one from the website. See the simple tread pattern. Not much show here, if you see side by side to a potenza GIII

Congrats pal. Good to know that it is not noisy. Some pics of your car with the new tyres would be nice. Enjoy.

Bring up some pics with those footwear...
Hey the price of 185 Accelere is damn cheap considering that I got 155/65/13 Michelins for 2175 / tyre (from distributor)...

Do we have a desi version of Michelin 155/65 in Apollo?

tsk congrats on the new tyres. I have used the Acelere on my baleno also would testify for the noise part.I had the same treads on my 205's.
The Acelere's are leaps ahead of my GSD II's with regards to noise.

Its a good VFM product. I've got Accelere in my Dad's OHC and very much satisfied (compared to stock MRF) with that.

Appolo has a techinical collaboration with Michelin. This could very well be a Michelin design.

@tsk1979 - nice practical tyre choice. That tyre complements an Indica in its usage well

Mahesh all through the 6k odd kms it was more of driving around the pathetic roads between Mangalore and Kundapur.Sakleshpur was no good either and not a single puncture.
I remember I did abt 6 trips to Mangalore after these tyres were installed and every time we had 4 people traveling.

City driving was min. so no comments.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was a tri-cycle .
Now did the tri-cycle get to do such kinda roads during your school days ?

I think they had, not anymore....Even when the collabration was there it was for the commercial vehicle tyres not passenger vehicle tires..

Here are some pics

Looks wise V tread is better.
These look a little plain, but much better than ZVTS or S322

Hey, the tread pattern is pretty nice. Much better than some of the more common ones available as OE.

accelere tyres for indica

cong on getting new rubberes on for your indica

accelere is a very nice tyre it will perform very well and ita also a silent tyre
accele has no connection with michelin
the fuel efficiency will go down slightly with a wider tyre
the steering will feel slightly heavy with such wide tyres

have a nice drive
