Well, seeing as you are getting your tyres shipped, might as well get the alloys shipped too. I'd spend a little extra and go for the good stuff. There's a reason why they're used in rallies, you know.

If you want comfort and some grip, stick with the Michelins. If you want outright grip, and decent comfort too, go Yokohama Advan Neova. Expect the Advans to last 30k km with sane driving, and as low as 7k if you think Calcutta is your personal test track. The ES-100s were great when they were launched, over 3 years ago, but now they're out of the game. Goodyear sucks, no two ways to put it. The Yoko AVS Sports have ceased manufacture.

With your suspension setup, you could really go 17s, you know. Also, I don't see the need for an aftermarket suspension setup unless you're hitting the track. The Lancer OE kit does a good job of giving you some comfort and not shaming its rally cousin.

Actually, I am not getting my tyres shipped. That was the whole point of this thread My original choice was ES100's shipped from Mumbai. But, given the logistical and cost issues I am not opting for that. Hence, my choice has been narrowed down to the whatever is available locally.

17"... have you driven on these regularly on bad roads? Logically, 40-profile tyres with 17" rims will not give a significant amount of comfort, vis-a-vis a 60/14 or 50/15. And I wasn't kidding about my back problems... it's due for surgery, to give you an idea of the extent of it...

Regd the aftermarket suspension, the car is 7 years old and was due for a suspension overhaul anyway. I wanted to try out an advanced setup, so I took advantage of the situation and went for the Pedders. I had also considered Koni, but decided against it.

Tyre-wise, it seems that Michelins (Pilot Precedas) have the vote. The problem is, they aren't available here in 205/50/15... will have to pressurize the guy into ordering them for me.
If that doesn't work out, I'll have to go for a 195/60/14 setup.

well if that`s the case then go for 14` rims and tyres coz 15` rims and 50 profile tyres will give you a harsh ride.

nice choice of wheels. i have them on my ride. get them in 15 or larger because they dont look good in 14.

I've been using the PP's on Dhanno for over 4k now & have been bloody happy about them! Best tyres I ever bought with regards to grip & wet-weather performance but the ride is a tad stiff compared to the Energy XM1's.

Highly receommended over other options is my advice.

I read thru most of the thread - i am using 205/55/15 on my Lancer THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM. The Alloys I have are League You can see my Gallery & see if you want lower profile. Believe me 205/55 or even 205/50 will work. DO NOT go lower than 50 profile if you don't want damaged rims etc keeping in view the roads you drive on & more importantly watch your back.

@ricky: i have no intention of going under 50 profile. i wanted to fit 205/55/15 but not getting much choice in this tyre-wise.
So am settling for 205/50/15 OR 195/55/15 OR 195/60/14. I will get some speedo error for all of these, but else will be fine.

Ok... based on suggestions, here is what I am going to go in for:

Choices:
1st: 195/55/15 - tyre?
2nd: 205/50/15 - Pilot Preceda
3rd: 195/60/14 - Pilot Preceda

Waiting on the tyrewalla to get back to me on the pricing and availibility of the first 2 choices. Ishan is doing some looking up too. Hopefully will get what I'm after.

the ride in the 15" is not that bad actually they are good in the handling department and 15" look almost stunning

you don't feel the bumps that much

the car i am talking about has 205 50 r15 and its 2006 lancer D


i have driven a lancer with 17" rim but the ride was harsh but not that hard but here in chandigarh we have very good roads so cann't really comment on ride
