Thanks akshay for the info. I know that Potenza G3 are available in size 13,but thats what the shop told me yesterday.

Now Potenza G3 is a 3 year old tyre in the world market, and it is being gradually phased out,but for that reason it is now available in india.

I also enquired about Hankook Ventus, but again that is not available below 14.

What to do?

UC
Michelin XM1 and Apollo Aceleres are best options available in 155/65-13.
Potenza GIIIs come in 165/60-13 not 155/65-13.

Thanks a ton kpzen bhai fo the prompt reply.

The tyres I want to go for is Michelin XM1+, which is costing me Rs 2350 from Minku ( Kolkata Team-Bhp members would know! ). Is the price ok? Are they good in terms of handling,road-noise,braking and durability ? Can I go upto 165mms, if yes then what would be the correct upsize?
I would later go for Plati alloys.
Thanks again.

Umm...I don't know your source for this info but the GIII has been there in the Indian market for over 5 years now & was introduced even before that abroad. And it's been phased out worldwide except for India.

Thanks for your reply boss.
I got that information while rummaging through Google to get 4 new tyres for my Estilo. Will surely look for that and try to give the link here. I had no clue whatsoever that GIII was available here for last 5 years. But I found out that its being phased out from rest of the world except India. Also the Potenza GIIIs used to make helluva noise.

Please guide me and help me choose the best tyres for my car.

Thanks

I think 155 is enough for the Estilo & I would go with the suggestion KP gave above.

i think the xm1s would be just fine for your estilo.

ishan how would you rate the levels of grip of the g3 compared to the xm1? im under the impression that the grip of the g3 would be better. is that true?

Purely from the perspective of grip? Yes, I too would think the GIII would be better.

Thanks kpzen, akshay 1234 and iraghava for your valuable inputs.

Its final then.I am going for an upgrade on my tyres tomorrow. It will be a set of 4 Michelin XM1+ @ Rs 2350/ tyre.

Hope to put pictures soon.

PS: Am not sure about the alloys though from Plati. If I find them neat enough tomorrow, then I might get the Platis as well. Or else it will be back to Gurus asking which is better amongst League,HR and Plati !! Lol

I have done it finally.Though reporting comes after a week of using new shoes.Sorry I was pressed for time.

I took my car to Minku's (Indo Radial Club) on Ashutosh Mukherjee road at about 1:30pm.Mum was screaming cause I went without having lunch! Minku is a real nice guy as he explained every aspect of going in for a new set of high end tyres.I was there till 4.30pm as I was expecting shuvD to drop by. My older tyres were removed after car was put up on a jack.First the right side 2 tyres were removed and the steel rims were shod with brand new Michelin XM1 155/65 R13s .(Now here I was in a confusion and spent about half an hour on phone with Michelin company guys.I was originally told that Michelin Energy XM1+ was available in 13" size, but that wasn't right. So I was a bit upset and the store didnt have XM1+,but instead had XM1.So again on the phone with Michelin guys, they convinced me that XM1+ was a marketing gimmick and its no different from XM1 ! Energy series wasnt available in 13" size, its available from 14" upwards.Even Michelin didnt have XM1+ with them, they had to take my order if I was interested and they would procure XM1+ for me,but that would take about 20 odd days :( ! )I was more upset !!
I finally decided on going for Michelin XM1 after much thought, because I had already rode dot 3000 Kms on my factory fitted MRF ZVTS,although when I fixed a deal with Minku,my Odometer reading was 2700 Kms. Secondly as I was told that Michelin XM1+s are no different from XM1 ,I decided to go for the latter.
After the four tyres were shod on rims, they were inflated and wheel balancing was done. That was thrown in free .After that the car was put up for alignment.Everything went fine.
Finally I paid him Rs 5800 in cash ( Rs 2350/tyre x 4 = Rs 9400)- Rs (900/older tyre x 4 = Rs 3600) = Rs 5800.
I was happy, very happy with how things went.
The new tyres were awesome with superb tread design.

I will write about my 1 wk experience shortly.
