Re: VW Polo : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hi Team,
I will be taking delivery of my Polo highline plus AT soon and was thinking of replacing the stock Goodyear Assurance Triplemax tyres to a better one.
After searching for quite a bit, Michelin Primacy 4ST, XM2 are not in stock in my city. Continental UC6 tyres are also not available. Only other good tyre that was available was the Yokohama BluEarth AE50. So, is it worth upgrading to these tyres or is it better to stick with the Goodyear’s until the P4ST’s become available?

Michelin have halted their imports, even returned dealers' their security. No idea when they'll be available next.

Anything is an upgrade over the good year's. Try to get UC6, or bluearth AE51

Re: VW Polo : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Is it fine to upgrade to 205/55/R16 in stock 195/55/R16 rims? My friend is going to get his Highline Plus MT soon. What tyres would be recommended?

Shouldn't be an issue. I got my Altroz upgraded to 205/55/R16 Conti UC6 on stock alloys. Stock were 185/60/R16 on 6J rims.

Rather than me recommending, please see what is available at your local tire shops. I am running UC6 since last 1000km and very happy with the grip and overall comfort+steering feedback. Have Yoko S drive on my fiesta and they are very very good in grip but little noisy.

Is it really required to change the size? Just get a proper tire like the Conti UC6/ Michelin P4ST and he's good to go. The Apollo/ Goodyear on offer may not be the best in terms of grip.

Compound is more important than size IMHO. 195mm is honestly more than sufficient TBH and has a wide variety of high quality options.

Re: VW Polo : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

My Polo is due a servicing this week, spoke to the workshop, they have Conti CC6 in stock.

Do any of you have any experience with this tyre? Whats the difference between UC6 and CC6?

Re: VW launches new brand design & logo across India

Hello,
My relative has a 2017 VW Polo trendline with 14" steel rims. He wants to upgrade to 16" OE alloys. Can anyone please clarify based on REAL WORLD experience :
1. Is it direct fit or requires modification
2. What would be the recommended tyre size
3. Any warranty loss due to this mod
4. Impact on Handling & ride quality
Thanks !!

Re: VW Polo : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

After a long deliberation, I have gone ahead and put Michelin xm2+ in my 2014 Polo. The stocks Apollo Alnacs had gone of 46200+ kms over 7 years. Folks at the service center indicated that the tyres could go for another 5000kms (they said the same thing though in the previous year though). Although I didn't face significant braking issues, the they did not stop in the expected stopping distance in a not-so good road. Felt that the original Apollo Alnacs had gone hard and finally decided to change them. Was split between CC6 & XM2+, but decided to go ahead with Michelin xm2+. When I looked at the stock tyres after they were removed, I realized that they have indeed gone old. Will post later about the experience with xm+ in the next few weeks after some outstation trips.

Re: VW Polo : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hello Guys,

Hope everyone’s doing good

I have been browsing through forums and calling up shops for upgrading tyres on my Polo TSI. The stock ones are in good condition after 30000km and 1 year(Yes, I drive that much), but I have decided to change them in the interest of comfort.

From what little information I have gathered , the tyres shortlisted are:

1. Continental UC6 - getting for around 6750 bucks a tyre
2. Michelin P4ST- getting for around 9200 bucks a tyre.

With the polo stiff suspension and my long commutes ,I really want tyres that are plush/comfortable and as silent as possible.

Tyre size 195/55/R16

Any suggestion, input or different tyre recommendation is solicited here.

Re: VW Polo : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Ive just acquired a 2016 Polo GT TSi and quite excited. These come with 15 inchers and I would like to first upgrade to 16 inches.

Need recommendations for a tyre upgrade please. Im keen on the 205/55/R16 as I have used these sometime back on my Swift and I quite liked the ride and traction.

Im not sure we would get the Yokos in these specs. Looking forward to your recommendations here in Bangalore with a price indicator please.

Many Thanks !

For the 16s, with 205 contact patch; the closest upgrade is 205/50 but with that you lose a bit of sidewall and next closest is the 205/55 but you gain sidewall.

I'm comparing to the stock 195/55/R16.

The best tyres on these upsized ones are the Michelin Pilot Sport4 . Impressive grip all the time , silent and comfortable yet strong enough to cope with bad roads.
but these do wear out quickly, expect 25-30k max life.

If you are willing to trade some grip in favour of longevity, look at Michelin Primacy 4, they are second only to PS4.

Re: VW Polo : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

After giving this a thought, I reckon a 205/50/R16 would be ideal.

Any thoughts on how BBS deep lip alloys will look on a TSi ? Will these be too loud as I would like them to look sporty yet simple and classy.
