The car was posted earlier this year at this link. So complete, plus two door, hope it is restored soon and well.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Not sure if this has been posted here before, wasn't able to find it in the thread.
I've been seeing this Austin 7 for years here near Lalbagh, Bangalore. Does anyone know the story behind this car?

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

I found an old Mark II that was abandoned by the owner at a scrap shop. The car has limited time before it is salvaged for its parts I was told (It could be a marketing strategy to create demand, like "limited Offer - ends today").

It is a 1962 Diesel - Original Hindustan Engine. Perfect body posture and has about 90% original HM parts. Gear shift on the steering column - a rare sight these days.

Now, the damage is mainly rust -especially the rear right, which is a less hectic fix. The bumpers require new Chrome and the seats are half-eaten by rodents I believe. The platform is in pretty good shape and less rust than the rest of the body and a deeper inspection is required.

The car is located at -

Near Attukal Temple, Trivandrum, Kerala. The reason I am posting this is that the scrap shop guy told me it has a few days to live and it could be a lie. But what if it isn't. I really love to own the car and take it in its course of maintenance and restore it to its former glory. But I do not have the resources at the moment and if anyone is interested to give this car a second chance I'd love to help and pull it out of this hellhole.

Now, coming to finance. I don't trust this man and would only speak to him if I have impeccable negotiation skills or take a negotiator with me. He did not mention the price but did tell me that to restore it, it would take a Lakh rupees. Pictures attached. Do let me know if anyone is interested. And no, this is not a for sale post, but a notification to all members of this forum about a piece of history that could be retained.

This W110 is a 200D. Sadly on its way to being Dieselised. Apparently Metal craftsmen where bought to work on the car from a different city before the lockdown was imposed. Credit where Credit is due, they did manage to get some work done, Which stalled as Lockdown was imposed and i believe no further work has been done after that. Last i saw, the Floor Pans were full of water and the Car awaiting its turn at the workshop. Never got to speak to the owner but the person working on the car was quite insistent that the car will now sport a more sporty Diesel Engine and Alloy Wheels.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Hello Everyone,
Spotted this ex-army MM550 at Sector-19 Noida, which has been standing in the same place since quite a long time now. It looks like the car was being restored and left in between. Lot of parts are missing but I believe it can still be saved .

Thanks for reaching out. The car is an Ambassador Mark 3. I am not sure if you would want Mark 3 parts on a Mark 1. If you are looking for parts that are not aestetics, then I guess we can work around to procure them.

Furthermore, I am not sure if this car is still there since I posted on this thread quite some time ago. But any how, I can enquire and get more information for you. I still do not have DM facility open for my profile, so this is the only means where I can reach out to you. Or - 9995672996 is my ph # and we can have a conversation over the phone - and definitely - we should meet up. I am more than inclined to contribute to your project. If not this, we can find spares for the Mark 1 elsewhere - with the people I know.

Thanks and regards.

Baiju
