On the Topic of Ford Falcons - Here is one in Pune many know of and posted here earlier

This is the other Falcon I was thinking of. It's an XA 500. Probably a 6 cylinder. Made 1972-73.

Thank you everyone who's replied, I had no idea that Australian cars were even exported to India, and in some numbers as well.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

For Delhi wallahs
There is one Red Beetle and a Black Super Select parked outside the IIT. They are there for over an year.
As one comes from adchini towards IIT and reaches the traffic signal just before IIT, they are parked on the left (T-Bhpian cant miss that...I bet!)
I enquired but the owner did not want to sell (I hope he doesn't want to let them rust).

This was the Australian Ford LTD. Not many made it to India, common were Holden and Ford Falcons.

He is is a dealer , has been asking for a ridiculous price for them , however when you approach him at first he will say they are not for sale.

Both the cars are parked at the same place where a old workshop used to operate till some years back , the land was reclaimed by DDA and the workshop shut shop. I have memories of a Green Barracuda and a Mustang , that had come for repairs there (circa 2001)

While we're on the subject of Aussie cars, here's what I think is a Holden seen in an early 80s Indian movie:

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this info, or whether it has been posted here before, but here goes.

This is for Pune-based Fiat aficionados. There is an old black "Dukkar" fiat rusting at one of the garages here on Baner road, the body seems to be in decent nick. For those who know the area, it's in the lane that leads to the Baner crematorium. This road now connects Baner Road to the new Balewadi-Pimple Nilakh bridge, which is why I use it every day on my way to & from work.

I'm not sure if the car is for sale, but I've been seeing it lying there for months now. My apologies for the lack of snaps, I use a rather old-fashioned and beat-up cellphone.

Dear Shreeram - where in Pune is this car? I would want to see it as well. I don't want it, just for interest sake!

The black Fiat at Baner looks similar to this one. You will also find an old Contessa lying nearby, on the opposite side of the lane. Looks beyond restoration, but will definitely be useful for salvaging spares, trims and other stuff.

Both these vehicles seem to belong to the same garage which is in that lane.

Harit, thanks for the photo, that's excellent. I think this is a Ford ZF made in 1972-73. It's a bit hard to pick the exact model, as the tail lights have been changed, as well as the hub caps, and those tail fins weren't on the Australian cars. In fact any pre 1980 Ford Fairlane or LTD is rare in Australia. You just don't see them around anymore. I used to own an Australian Fairlane (a ZF), it was a great car.

I think this is a Holden HT, made from 1969 to 1970. Very interesting.
