Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

Hi.

Please post soem more pictures of the Ferrari under the Tarp. Is thsi car in Mumbai or Delhi
The next picture, you reference picture looks more like the late 400 / 412 i not the 365 GT 2+2

The Delhi Ferrari was a 400 or 412 which was gifted to teh owner by someone from the Italian Embassy. In all likelyhood its the same car.

Wasif Bhai, This is the same car that is with the Khan Market Guy in Delhi , which is always parked at the ambassador hotel. A 400i if i remember correctly.

The 365 GT 2+2 and the 400/412i are totally different cars and also look different.

The 400 range came later compared to the 365's.

So apparently this is the Delhi car I was refering to a 400i it was with a Sardar ar one time.

Thanks for the confirmation. From what could be seen under the tarp I was at the very least sure it was not a 365.

So whats the story on this cae, why is it always parked at that Hotel ? When was it last seen on the roads.

Though the 400 / 412 series were not highly regarded they are none the less very practical and useable cars.

I would love to get my hands on one of thm considering the prices are not that high.

Another interesting thing is that the look big in pictires but are actually petite in real life.

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

Last i heard that the engine is missing a piston , and it does not run . I am subject to correction on the same since this is very old info.

This was sold to the Khan Market guy by an Italian (probably a diplomat) quite some time back, as he was the one who used to maintain them.

This car is a 365 2+2 , the earlier incarnation of the 400

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

This car has been discussed ad nauseam, and I repeat once again that it's a Ferrari 365GT4 2+2.

Edit:
I think the owner is on the forum too, although not too active. You can see his post in the link given by wbd8779; handle similar to his car's name, hence my assumption!

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

Sorry I was wrong about this, like Prabal says its a 365 GT4 2+2. The body is alomost identialc on the 365 GT4 2=2, the 400 and the 412i.

Its that mostly one sees the 400/412 these days and there are hardly any signtings of the 365 GT4 2+2.

Re: Pics: Vintage & Classic cars in India

This car belonged to an Italian diplomat also named Rossi? And he serviced the car with one Mr. Sharma who had a workshop in Okhla. Rossi got him to visit Ferrari works. And later car came to Sharma. Later Sharma closed the workshop and car shifted to Ambassador Hotel, as were a few more cars. Sharma had a superb Lancia convertible too.
As Prabal stated, this car has been discussed ad nauseam.

Cheers harit

Saw a Peugeot 504 in Mumbai after a looong time !
I guess this will not 'officially' qualify as a classic.. but IMHO the 504 has had a superb innings, and is still running strong in many countries. The quirky Gallic shape apart, it's a car of many virtues - a future classic, surely ?

I remember Vinod Khanna drives one in the movie Amar Akbar Anthony, the scene where he first meets Shabana Azmi.

And another (or could it be the same one?) is driven by the villains in the movie 'Inkaar' also starring VK.

And yes, they were (and maybe still are?) popular in many African countries- used to see lots of these in Egypt and Libya. Even the station-wagon (break?) version.

Ravi, as far as I'm concerned the Peugeot 504 is not only a classic, but also iconic! I absolutely adore the 504. I've a lot of personal association with the model, but that's another story and not important here. By the way, I used to see a dark blue 504 with a MH regn in Delhi, driven by a Sikh gentleman till quite recently; wonder if this has a connection!
